Anyone have leather furniture and cats? Do they rip it to shreds? We are looking into getting a leather couch and we don't know if our cats will destroy it.

Re: Cats and Leather Sofas
My cousin has leather sofas, her cats have def made their marks on them. They love to claw the arms of them.

I have two declawed cats (I rescued them that way!) and they have made pretty bad marks on my leather couch and chair with their back claws. Next set of furniture will definitely be fabric!

Re: Cats and Leather Sofas
I have a cat and leather couches, and Blackie had NO desire to scratch at it. I heard animals dont like the smell of leather because it cames from an animal, but my dog lays on it.
Hubby was so worried about the cat, but NO problems here, and we have had the cat for 4 years.

Re: Cats and Leather Sofas
My mother in law has 5 cats and USED to have leather couches. They didn't rip them up - but they would run acorss them and make themselves comfortable on the couches...leaving millions of little marks...and eventually ruining them. I would't recommend it if your cats like to spend time on the furniture....

My cats have to interest in the leather couch. However, they try to scratch my regular upholstered couch. I bought this no scratch spray. It works a little.
