FH and I just recently talked about getting a pet once we are married. I want a dog.....he wants a cat.
Are you and/or your FH a dog person or a cat person?

i'm both but i do think cats are WAY easier to take care of. dogs can be hard when you go on vacation especially if you have a big dog, people are a little less willing to offer to take care of them.
fh on the other hand HATES cats

I love both, but FH is highly allergic to cats........so it'll be dogs for us.

i'm a dog person -love them. fh prefers dogs too. but they are a bigger responsibility than a cat IMO.

I used to have a kitten when I was younger, I personally found cats easier to care for than dogs. You can go to work and come home to feed your cat. The dog on the other hand is higher maintenance (of course not to bash dog lovers), you have to be more active depending on the type of dog you have b/c you have to walk & play (exercise) with your dog on a regular basis. Depending on your lifestyle, if you have time to walk your dog regularly and provide exercise/playtime then go for it. If you havre a job that requires overtime and you're home late, then a cat would be easier to care for than a dog. As long as you leave water and food, the cat will be fine. Cats tend to be more inactive (sleep) and isolated than dogs.

FH grew up with a cat... i grew up with nothing... i always knew i would get a boxer when i got my own place... i hate cats (one of my old jobs the super had a cat and it would chase me from the bathroom back to to my office... swiping at my feet... it would steal pens off of my desk.. i wanted to kill it) so there is no way we would get one...

Cat! Soo much easier to take care of! I think it depends a lot on your lifestyle. FH and I opted for a cat because we knew at this point in our lives we can't base our lives around going home to walk the dog. So litter box was just an easy out I guess. But our cat is a lot cooler than most of the dogs we know

we have two dogs at home.
i grew up with lots of cats so i love them just as much as dogs.
fh is not a cat person one bit he does love kittens
