I know there are ways to consolidate cc debt but what if you only have 1 cc that needs to be paid off? Is there some way that you can use the equity in your home to pay off the card? I know if you refinance you can do this but my rate is lower than the rates now so that would not work. Thanks!

Re: CC Debt-repost from LIF
what about applying for a new CC with a low or no rate on balance transfers? then transfer the balance
stay away from debt consoildation agencey's - they will wreck your credit
or call the CC company and see if they will lower your rate

i agree with Beth. See if you can get a card that has zero percent APR and pay if off that way. DH used to do this- he would transfer around his balances to a card with zero percent interest until the balance was paid off.

Maybe I will look around for that. Do you know any good ones at the moment? Thanks!

Totally agree! That's what we're doing!
I just applied for a 0% from Citicards My DH just rec'd a GREAT one from Discover...0% of balance transfers for life...just needs to make at least one purchase a month. The interest rate on purchases isn't bad either.

Thanks. I am going to look into them. I just talked to my dh and told him we HAVE to do something. It is getting WAY out of control (mostly him NOW-I have gotten sooooo much better with my wants and needs).

Bankrate.com also has a section for just credit cards that you can apply for and what gives the best deals and who has what interest rate.
