CD with picture proofs

Are you able to print them out anywhere? My mom told me that since the photographer owns the rights no place will print them out.

I already did this and had no problems. It depends on your photographer, mine gives me the rights to the pics.

If you go to CVS or some place like that you can. You just cant go to another photographer for example and get an album done or even with some a professional company that does albums. It should say it on your contract

That is correct! You CANNOT print pics from a CD that is copyrighted meaning the photographer owns the rights. I had a HUGE blowout with my photo and made him release his copyright.

That is correct! You CANNOT print pics from a CD that is copyrighted meaning the photographer owns the rights. I had a HUGE blowout with my photo and made him release his copyright.

i have heard of some photographers who have the rights to your pics for a year. This is definitely something to negotiate with them when booking. To the OP, check your contract bc it will say whether you have the rights to them or not.

Thanks because having the rights is a huge thing to me!

Some of the vendors I plan to visit are

Duet

Can anyone tell me if they have the rights with any of them?

i know it s*cks bc when first planning you have no idea about these things and this is how they get people. They know you won't know to ask about this unless somebody whose had experience with this told you about it.

I wouldn't mind them having the rights for a year I just want to eventually be able to print all of my pics inexpensively!!!

You already have to pay so much for a photog!!

I agree...my photo was trying to explain why they still have copyrights and I was like 'What if I want to make copies of MY wedding pictures in 30 years and your company is long gone?' He said, 'As soon as my company closes I will make sure to send the proofs to all of my customers...don't worry!'

OKAY GUY! Like I'm going to trust that! What a loser! Ha ha ha!

Yeah he wanted the rights forever. I cancelled my contract with him and was ready to lose my large deposit when he called me and offered everything released and a discount on top of it. He's old school and is trying to make his career last. Truth is...I LOVE his work. So we stuck with him...we have him wrapped around our finger now...it's kinda funny.

its good you fought for this, i mean the only time you would get rights is if his business closes? you definitely don't want that. And good that he also gave a discount, maybe now he realizes that he shouldn't do this.

Duet releases all copyrights for personal use. If you want to use it for commerical use (you'll profit from the image) you have to contact them

I know Dan Wagner gives you a CD so you can do whatever you want with your pictures.

We get our CD and we can do whatever we want with it ! Our photographer ( Nick G) allows this !

12th Night gives you the rights to your pics as soon as they are done working on your pics. They retouch everything so they want to work with the originals.
