Cell phone carrier suggestions

I moved away from LI a while ago but am coming back to see my family at Christmas.
my mom wants a new cell phone. What carriers are the best on LI?
She is in East Islip but works in Garden City so she needs coverage all over LI. I know some carriers have better reception than others so I thought you girls would know

They are all going to tell you Verizon.....They are the best after all....I just cannot afford them, so i am going with AT&T. Just stay away from T mobile.

You love T-Mobile? R U Serious? They are the worst service. Danielle and I have had them for a year and we have had nothing but the worst service. We get so many dropped calls, and sometimes we have no service at all for hours, it is ridiculous. I have called many times to complain and the customer service rep tells me that there is nothing they can do and they are not planning any upgrades in the area...It is ridiculous. We are not the only ones that don't like T mobile, My mom had t mobile and she didnt like it, and our friends have it and they dont like it either.

AT&T isnt expensive. You just need to shop around for a good deal...before you get the service from AT&T.....Online. Look at all the cell phone stores, they are always offering deals.

Scott Honestly my Best Friend and I have tmobile and I HAVE NEVER once had a dropped call EVER!!!!!!!! Ive had them for over a year and a half. When I broke my last phone they gave me a free month of service if I signed into another year I was like 'hell ya ill sign for another year' My best friend had a problem with her last phone (we had the same phone) where only in one spot in her bedroom could she get service as soon as she bought her new phone she had full reception all over her room. My DH has said on several occasions how he was thinking of paying out of his verizon contract to switch to Tmobile. I love Tmobile and never EVER had a problem with them. I do believe that a lot of it has to do with type of phone you have meaning if your phone is old it might not be able to carry the same service as a newer phone (notice what happened with my best friend) My DH always Claims that Tmobile has the newest and coolest phones LOL.

NOW having said that My best friend and I text A LOT also. Thats all we do at work. In one month between incoming and outgoing each of us has 1500 Text messages. With At&t we paid 10.00 a month and got 300 (I cant remember if that was how many we got) but would go over by 300 so we had to pay an extra 30.00 a month for text messaging on top of the 10.00 thats 40.00 on Text messaging in one month. My DH pays 9.99 for 1000 after that he pays .10 outgoing and .02 incoming. I would be screwed with that plan. For 10.00 a month With Tmobile I get unlimited buddy to buddy and unlimited Text messaging. Thats a deal.

I have TMOBILE and IMO think they stink!!
My DH has Verizon and loves it. He gets service everywhere...The other day we were on the LIRR and he got service under the tunnel, which I do not get with TMOBILE.

I have Verizon and think I will switch to AT&T because I get no service at nor near my home....

I just switched from T-Mobile to Cingular. I didn't care for my T-Mobile service

Verizon is the best!!
We've had them for about 3 years now. They never give me a problem

I have had AT&T for a few years but since the merger with Cingular, the service sucks. It was not the best to begin with but now even FI notices the high number of dropped calls. I dropped him a few times today alone while in midtown (with at least 5 bars noting that I had a good signal).

ETA - I had a ton of dropped calls on Saturday night while on the FDR.

I live in BK and do not use my phone much in LI.
