Cell phone RANT! A little long...

I moved from Long Island to Staten Island yesterday. I figured on Saturday I would start updating all my addresses. I called Sprint and advised them of my new address and specifically told the girl that I DID NOT WANT TO CHANGE MY NUMBER YET.

So a few minutes later I go to use my phone and I get a recorded message that says, 'Welcome to Global Roaming. Please enter your credit card number to make a call...blahblahblah'? So obviously now I am seriously confused. I go online and get Sprint's number and call them back. The girl advises me that the first person I spoke with changed my number by accident but she doesnt know what it is (and neither do I). So she tells me she will attempt to retrieve my previous number and call me back. She calls back a few hours later and promises that she has fixed the problem and my phone will be working again in four hours.

Fast forward to Sunday morning (probably twelve hours later)...my phone still does not work! I call Sprint and get a recording that they are closed. Great. Now I am moving in the rainstorm yesterday from Long Island to Staten Island with no phone.

I call Sprint this morning and get someone on the phone. They fix the problem. I ask for a credit for all the issues this created and they offer me -

A FOUR DOLLAR CREDIT!

I laugh and ask for a supervisor. The supervisor will not budge. Needless to say I disconnected my service. F#ck Sprint. I now hate them.

How insulting is that? FOUR DOLLARS?

Does anyone have TMobile? I think they have the highest customer service rating out of all the carriers and this is something I was CLEARLY lacking in my old company. Any opinions?

They took my base rate (without all the extras that I pay for - ie text messaging, earlier nights/weekends, insurance, etc and without taxes and fees) and divided it by 30 I guess.

i honestly have been thru almost evy cell company and so far cingular is the best thats what i have now ... I HATE SPRINT!!!

I recommend verizon. Honestly, I think all cell phone companies are a-holes, but at least verizon never messed anything up for me like that.... I've been with them for about 7 years...

One time, I was a victim of a cellphone scam. all of the sudden, early in the morning, my phone began ringing with all of these dominican republic phone #s... really, every 30 sec or so was another call from a different person. I called verizon, they switched phone #'s on my acct over the phone, and everything was normal within 10 min.

tmobile is supposed to be good in nyc, but fairly crappy outside of it. i have cingular and couldn't be happier - i have the best service out of all my friends. i also have a really good phone though - but i think cingular has the largest network.

I have Sprint too and they are constantly pissing me off!! I have to check my bill EVERY month to make sure that not charging me for something I'm not getting and there's always an issue. They used to be reliable, but lately I can't trust them :(...I feel your pain!

I have t-mobile and they're pretty good. I've had them since it was voicestream, about 7 years ago. Never had a problem.

Sprint was the first cell phone company I had, and they stink!

I've had a few others over the years, but for the last 5 or so I have had at&t/cingular. I'm really happy with cingular.

oooooooh, I HATED Sprint. HATED HATED HATED them.

I'm with T-Mobile now and they rock. Honestly, you are 100% right - best customer service ever. You probably don't get as good coverage as Verizon (who i think has the best coverage...? ), but tmobiles customer service is fantastic.

I have Verizon for the past 3 1/2 years and love them. The only 'problem' I have is waiting in the damn stores!!!

Other then that, any problems I have had have all been solved quickly. I have no complaints at all ! !

I have had tmobile for 5 years and lived on li and albany while working in queens and manhattan as well as catering all over li. I have never had a problem. What I have found is that it depends on the phone you have with Tmobile. Some are great and some are crap with reception.

The razor is awesome.

my best friend has tmobil, she hates it. most of the time when I text her, it takes hours sometimes days to get it. she misses tons of phone calls, and all these other problems with it. not to mention how easily people can hack into the tmobil account, and just get random things sent to addresses, meanwhile the bill gets sent to you.

she moved onto verizon. I love cingular though, I think that's the best. either cingular or verizon i'd pick.
