I have at&t shared plan, with 1000 anytime minutes and unlimited nights and weekends, and it costs 89.99. I pretty much use about 800 anytime and about 200 nights and weekends and 200 shared.
What do you have, I want to see if I can get something cheaper from sonewhere else.
My DH wants to get a Nextel, but they don't have a shared plan.

DH & I have Cingular and don't like it- as soon as our contract expires in June, we're switching. My phone loses its signal in lots of places on L.I.- it's very annoying!

Danielle and I just got a family plan with Tmobile. We both got free Samsung E105 Color Flip phones, and we have 800 minutes a month, free mobile to mobile, free roaming, free nights and weekends, free long distance...and a $200 cash back rebate. We back $70 a month. I love the phone, I love the service.
Cingular is Garbage. It is the worst phone service out now Nextel is second to being the worst phone service Sprint. is average. You will get alot of dropped calls, and plenty of areas that dont have service. At&t was better last year. Their service has gone down really bad in the past year. This is why I think Cingular and At&t are merging.
Verizon. Excellent carrier

I would not recommend T Mobile, had them for over a year and we have dropped calls ALL THE TIME. Planning on getting out of the plan come May. I hear better things about AT&T and Verizon.

the service it self : all cell phone companies work off the same satlite so it boils down to which plan and look of a phone you prefer
I dont know if this is true or not but I can say that certain carriers have better service in certain areas! For instance my brother lives by macarthur airport. ATT gets NO service at his house, however Nextel does. On the North Shore (specifically by Fort Salonga) my FH's nextel often C%$ps out where as my ATT is fine. So there are differences in areas!
TMobile, I have heard NUMEROUS complaints about especially from my NYC coworkers who have a hard time getting good service in manhattan!
I personally have seen a huge change in nextels phone service in the 3 years my FH has had his phone. THe service has improved but I think the 2-way can be kinda $$$.
We had verizon before and they were horrible for us! Every month we were fighting with them about charges that they couldnt explain!
I have ATT and I love it have no issues, infact I was excited when about 2 weeks ago I discovered that I now get almost a full signal more than halfway through the tunnel at Penn Station, where as before, on the platform I would get a very low signal and then minute the doors closed I got nothing!

Just switched to Verizon, and I'm happy with their service. We have America's Choice family share plan - 400 anytime minutes, 1000 mobile to mobile (you can also choose unlimited family calling rather then the 1000 mobile to mobile, but I wanted to include everyone with verizon, not just Al). Its 59.99/month.
(we were on sprint in CA, but their service isn't as good in NY)

I completely agree with you. Hubby works doing this and first thing he will ask you is where are you most of the time re: work, home..etc. Sometimes he will give you a test phone with that service to see if you like it around the areas that you will usually be.

I know that 2 of my freinds have Verizon, and they always have service. With my phone there are certain spots where I will not get service at all. It is very annoying.

I have Verizon, and its great. During the blackout last summer, I was the only one w. a cell phone signal able to make outgoing calls. I also travel a lot for work, and have not had a problem with it anywhere. I have had the service for about 3 or 4 years now. DH has Tmobile and has really bad reception-we can be on our phones in the same spot, and I will have reception and he wont. I think some of it is due to his phone, he has a crappy phone and his calls are never clear. We are getting him on Verizon family plan in March.

its just like the radio we all have access to the same radio stations and in the end they all work off the same satlite

We have TMOBILE and while a couple of months ago, I was ready to chuck my phone out the window, now it is much better, we still get some dropped calls, but let me tell you something, their customer service is TOP NOTCH. They will stop @ nothing to make their customer happy, they genuinely appreciate your business. they have even gone as far as to give us $100 credit to 'help us in our decision' when our contract is up in february. we have the family share plan that danielle&scott was talking about-except when we signed up they weren't offering free nights, we'll get those when we re-up. I was going to switch back to VERIZON but we can't afford their plans that cost like $1000 and you get like 5 minutes of talk time. haha plus, they could care less about their customers because they know if you walk out the door, 50 more people will walk in and sign with them. AT&T has to be the worst--my friend was having sooooo many problems with her brand new phone, it literally just stopped getting service and I went to the store with her and they basically said 'What do you want us to do about it, buy a new phone' so that night she did - We went to VERIZON and she switched! hhaha VERIZON has amazing service, just too pricey for my taste!

Cingular is actually #2.. #1 Verizon #2 Cingular #3 ATT
I just extended my plan and got a new phone, but am so NOT happy with ATT.. I've been with them since 98, but I would rather change..

T Mobile has improved alot because they put up alot more poles and they have alot more areas of service now.
Every carrier works differently in different areas....That is true
