Re: cell phone sign on church door?
Not getting married at a church, but my officiant is going to remind guests to silence their phones before the ceremony starts. Perhaps you can ask the priest to do the same, in a non-formal way before everything even starts...?

It's so unfortunate that this is so absolutely necessary. You would think common sense, but no. I was at a wedding, where not only did a phone go off...but they took the call! And sat there and talked. I wanted to die, I just started hysterically crying because it was the most awful thing ever.

My church has to say it every Sunday before they begin mass and you always hear phones chirping as people are turning them off. You mean it didnt dawn on you that you are going to mass and you probably should leave your cell at home or at least turn it off?

I can beat that ...
At FH's grandmother's FUNERAL, the PRIEST'S cell phone went off. He was blessing the communion and had his hands raised when it went off. Not on vibrate, either.
It was awful, but at the same time it broke the mood which (understandably) was quite heavy.
I still can't believe that it happened ...
ETA that FH leaned over to me when it happened and whispered, 'That better be God calling ... '
