Re: Cell phones...
Put a huge sign at the door that says shut your Damn cell phone off especially when we do our vows or else I will come over and kick you in the shins.
Honestly I dont know if their is a tactful way, people should just know to shut their phones off in church

Re: Cell phones...
you are just full of questions today aren't you???
LOL!
Maybe the officiant can make an announcement before the ceremony starts!
Or if you are having programs then print something in there.
BTW, I'll be sure to make sure to have my cell ring!!!! I'll use John's to call my cell!!

Is there a way before the ceremony to have an announcement? I know they do this before broadway shows. We are getting married outside so we have the traffic surrounding us. But if it makes you feel any better, I have never seen this happen at a wedding and I always tell Dale to make sure he turns the cell phone off before we go any where quiet. The baby crying is the one that always gets me.

The Church/temple may already have a sign - ask them if you can post one!

Re: Cell phones...
danigirl you are so right on the people standing before the bride gets in. I better see people getting up when I am about to come in. I can understand 95 year old aunt mildred who takes about 15 minutes to get up standing before I get in, but everyone else oh hells no you will rise when I come in
I think having the ushers nicely remind the guests as he is sitting them a good idea.
Something like 'thank you for coming, just a reminder please turn your cell phone and pager off'
and if they dont listen they get a kick in the shins and a slap across the head

Re: Cell phones...
... but I know what you mean. I was actually at a funeral the day after Easter and there were cell phones going off during that. The family was soooooo p.o'd at their level of disrespect!

Re: Cell phones...
I ALSO do not want people standing until I get in. But I do want them to hush up and watch my bridesmaids walk down the aisle. Last summer I was at a wedding, and I was kind of far in from the aisle. There had been music playing the whole time, and people were talking. I missed the entire BP come in because I couldn't see them, and people talked through the whole thign. I had no idea they even went down the aisle. I don't think I'll have music until the party is ready to walk, and then 'Here Comes The Bride' only for me.

Re: Cell phones...
I went to a communion as well this weekend and the Lector politely made an announcement at the beginning of the ceremony to PLEASE SHUT OFF all your cell phones and beepers. There were so many people (including me who forgot to shut it off) reaching for their belts and pocketbooks.
Ask the musical person or lector to make the same announcement at your wedding.

Re: Cell phones...
I like jennbaby's advice! Believe it or not, I actually went to a funeral where someone's cell phone rang, not once, but three times!!!! You think he'd eventually figure it out. People can be very rude!

Re: Cell phones...
yes at my ex's funeral cell phones were going off and luckily his male friends didn't tolerate this. I guess with several hundred people at a wake, there are always a few idiots.
This is so tacky

I agree- cell phones are horrible. I always have mine off in places like that- I hate it when I am in school and peoples phones ring in class- it is so rude!

Re: Cell phones...
I never even thought of that...I'm too worried that my new two month old nephew will be screaming his head off!!! (I know I sound selfish...but I hate to be at a wedding and there's a screaming baby!!!!)
