Is anyone using a center piece other than flowers? I dont think I can afford a floral CP on each table. Maybe just the dais. What other CP's can I use?

Re: Center Pieces
I am using a floral centerpiece. However I was thinking maybe you can use a plant instead. I think Hydrangeas are in bloom in the summer and I saw them in Martha stewart magazine. You can get a white pot for a blue or white or pink hydrangeas. This could fill up the tables nicely and be a lot cheaper than a florist.

you can always do something with candles and put those out with a few of those silk rose petals around them. The petals are inexpensive. You can get them at Michaels.

I went to a wedding where the centerpieces were vases filled with flowers...at the end of the night each guest took a vase home!!

I am using Lenox candle lamps that I got at the Lenox Outlet in Riverhead for $22!!! They are gorgeous and the Hall is going to be decorated for Christmas and I didn't want anything too overwhelming to take away from the beauty of the hall!!! They are the perfect size for the table!!!

Wow. Thank you for that idea. That sounds doable and actually very nice. I am not too creative. So I am not too sure how that would come out if I did it myself. But I would love your suggestions and any help you could offer. Thank you.
I also love the idea of candles and flowers. But I am having an early afternoon reception. Do you think candles will look nice that early in the day?
Opps. Thank you ladies for helping me. I appreciate all of your suggestions

I think candles add to a table no matter what time...

I like the potted plant idea...was actually a tip in one of those books on how to save money...was going to go that route until mom took over the flowers (my wedding HER way)

Re: Center Pieces
I'm not using floral centerpieces. I'm not crazy about flowers. Here is a sample pic of what I've been coming up with. This is obviously just me playing around with them. But I like them.
Never mind the pics are too big (and I can't get them to come up).
Since my wedding is in december, I am doing a giant snowflake in the middle, with snowflake votives around in with glitter snow

You can do pillar candles or votives with petals. That is just beautiful and very cost efficient.

If you need affordable flowers, try flowers by emil. He really works in any budget. Tell him your budget and he'll make it happen. I posted a little review about him.
Now to answer your question,
I'm not sure how I'm going to make it work, but for the CH tables I will put 2 picture frames (sort of leaning against each other) in the middle of the table. At one time I was thinking about doing the following arrangement: Candle , flower in a vase, picture frame, flower in a vase, candle. The flower would be like a single flower in a small vase and the candles would betaper candles in a nice candle holder.

We are doing votives and petals
ETA - we will have a few other things on the table too - menu's, kissing bells, favors, table camera and framed pictures (our table names)
Thank you ladies. Great ideas. I think I am going to go with the candles and rose petals. And maybe think of something else to add for decor. Wonderful. Thank you so much

I'm doing this one with cranberry/wine color and ivory instead of red. Of course on a white tablecloth so it shows up better. We are doing them ourselves for less than $30 a piece! With 22 tables...I needed a budget CP
To buy your own flowers, either go down to the Chelsea Wholesale Flower Market in the city or check out Online Wholesa Flowers Site ...the pictures below are lovely too!
