Centeral Air Conditioner Filters

Just wondering what type of filters people use for their Centeral Air Conditioning units.

I've always thought the blue fiberglass kind might not catch enough of the gunk in the air .. and have used the kinds that claim to catch like 99% of dusts and bacterias, etc. ... they look white and sort of cottony .. but someone once said those types might be too restrictive for CAC units .. but okay for heaters.

So, I'm just curious what other people are using ..

or thick white.

Blue fiberglass. That's only because I thought that was all that was available

I was once told the white filters are too restrictive, and we should be using blue fiberglass .. but they don't seem like they're good filters .. you can basically see right through them .. what can they possibly filter from the air??? But, if the whites are too restrictive, I don't want to ruin the unit.

So .. what is everyone using .. white or blue??
