I want tall centerpeices that people can take home. I dont want to rent vases from the florist. Does anyone know where I can get them?

Most florists don't charge you to rent the vases. At least i don't think they do.
So are you looking to buy your own?

Depends on which florist you go to. Mine included the vases in the price of the CP.

Re: Centerpeices
from what I know, when people take a high centerpiece home, they only take the top part with them, and leave the vase...I dont think anyone is supposed to take the entire thing with them...

I hate to see the flowers go to waste. I was at a wedding this weekend, the centerpeices were beautiful but noone took them home- so it was $6,000 in the trash. Atleast if people take them home, they can enjoy them for another week and then trash them

I agree. Usually they only take the whole thing if it's a low CP.
Joanna, you can have the dj/band announce it, or they can do some sort of a raffle at each table to see who gets them. That's what I've seen done often times.
ETA: or sometimes they'll have maybe the youngest or oldest guest at the table, or the person with the closest birthday, etc.

You can get the vases from the florist; they rent and sell the vases along with the CP. I think it's usually $15 a vase, not sure.

you can have people to the 'dollar game' to see who can get it...You dont really have to use a dollar though, anything on the table can work...

Re: Centerpeices
My brother put one penny under one plate at each table. The DJ announced for everyone to look under their plate, the person with the penny got to take it home. He had all low cp's.
I just went to a wedding this past Friday, and they had all high cp's. No one at our table wanted it, so I took it home. A person from every table brought one home, and they only took the top part. She had the flowers on top of like a long glas cylinder, the cylinder's stayed.

Someone told me about putting a number or piece of paper or something under a chair and whoever had the paper under the chair would take it home, i think i might do that, not sure though.

Re: Centerpeices
Look at www.save-on-crafts.com for vases that you could provide to the florist...IMO, it is an unnecessary expense because they are pricy and they could be cumbersome to bring home, and they might not even display it

Re: Centerpeices
What about donating the cp to a local hospital or nursing home? I've heard of people doing this and I think its a really nice gesture.

Re: Centerpeices
The majority of the high CP's - the vase or the stand holding the flowers are normally returned to the florist and whomever decides to take home the CP will just take off the top part. With the low CP, they just take the entire piece.
With my CP - I am have them in a 24'' trumpet vase which are to keep, they don’t need to be returned. I saw the sample last night and I did think it's pretty large and must be really heavy, so hopefully whomever wins the CP it won't be too difficult carrying out. Every wedding I have been, the DJ always did the CP giveaway, so I will most likely do the same.

I heard you can do this but the company that does this for you I heard charged a hefty fee! *****
