We're having votive candles in our centerpieces. I can't decide if I should get scented ones or unscented? Yankee Candle makes a scent called Wedding Day, that's very pretty. But I'm afraid with 12 of them burning, the scent will get overpowering in the room. What are you doing with your candles? Scented or unscented??

I would light the scent you think you like and let it burn for a while before you decide. As long as the scent is nice I think it would be good!

Im getting married at the Vineyard and I wanted to use YC Vineyard Candles and someone brought up the point that although the candles may smell GREAT and fit in perfectly that there may be some people attending your wedding that are allergic or just cant stand smelly candles... just something to think about

I am not with mine. Too overpowering. I'd rather they smell the flowers!

IMO: these are candles for the table where you are going to be eating... some of the scents may cross with the scent of the food... not good-- could be some nausea!

That's what I was thinking. It might be too overpowering. Especially if you're trying to eat! I know I get migraines from very strong smells, so I guess I'll just get the unscented. Oh well....

Will it clash with the flowers? I used unscented. We used lilacs - which are very strong -so we went with unscented. (we put benedryl in the bathroom basket in case of allergies)
I love the wedding day scent! Its very light and pretty - if your flowers aren't very fragrant I would go with it.

i went to a reception hall and was told if I was going to have candles as part of the centerpiece that they should be unscented. It would be horrible to give Aunt Bessie a migraine (she cant be around strong smells), or someone else a headache...
it was a very good point...

I am personally allegeric to strong smells (I HATE PURfume or any scent) gives me a great big headache. I would hate to be at a wedding where i would feel miserable because of the scent..

I agree with everyone else. I would do the unscented since I am one of those people that get sick if a smell is too overpowering.

UNSCENTED! Not only may people get sick from smelling something all night, but it takes away from the taste of the food!
