Re: centerpiece issues..

I think I'm making my own centerpieces. Mine is in winter so I am putting cotton stuffing down with snowflakes, blue and silver ornaments and a candle...very cost effective and DIY's give it a personal touch. Post a question about DIY centerpieces and you'll see that they are really original.

As others have said, there's a lot of things you can do. I've seen lanterns for $15-20 that would be nice, surronded by petals, and I just came up with an interesting thing myself: I received this set of three cake plates as an early wedding present. I put little tealights in glass holders on each level and it looks amazing! The tealights were from IKEA and cost about $.50 each, I think. I've had them for a while so I don't remember. I already have floral CPs planned, but I'm going to do the triple plate thing on a side table or something, it looks so pretty.

Check Jamali Gardens, IKEA, and Crate and Barell for lanterns. And you can always sell them on eBay or to another bride afterward and make some of your money back.

Not sure if you've been on the '08 board but failurebydsign just posted this cool website where you can buy floating candle centerpieces...

We bought 22 fall centerpieces from Surroundings & they are absolutely beautiful!!! The pics don't do them justice...So far they're my FAVE purchase for the wedding!

The staff there is a real pleasure to work with & I'm not sure how much it helps, but they don't charge tax since they're in Oregon. We saved about $100 on the order because of that!
