Centerpiece Question

I went to see a florist last week and they said that since i was having an day wedding (12:45-6) that i should not have high centerpieces rather a low floral arrangement?
But i guess i always pictured my wedding with the high ones.
What you you girls think. And be HONEST. I don't mind if you think i should go with the low ones.

It's your wedding, Do what you have always dreamed of doing. High centerpieces are beautiful for a day or night wedding.

I am going to use my little slogan again and say , YOUR WEDDING YOUR RULES! This is the most special day of your life, if you like high centerpieces then you should have high ones. The nerve of that florist I swear some vendors act like they are doing you a favor

Re: Centerpiece Question

The height of flowers has NOTHING to do with the time of day. YOU are paying for the florist and he should do what YOU want. You make the final decision!! I say go for the high ones!!!

Re: Centerpiece Question

I don't think it has anything to do with the time of day. But...

Really the trend is to do low centerpieces not high ones. If you look in all the upscale magazines, that is all you see. I also really wanted high because I like that over the top look. But all the people see is the pedestal when they are seated. A low centerpiece displays the flowers nicer.

My floral designer (a 'famous' NYC vendor) talked me out of high CP.

First things first... GO TO A DIFFERENT FLORIST! And secondly, get the centerpieces you've always dreamed of!

Re: Centerpiece Question

I don't see how the time of day has anything to do with the height of you centerpieces. Go with high if you like them! I'm having an afternoon wedding and I'm having high centerpieces. In fact, my florist recommended them because they look best in my reception location.

Bride04

Which room is your reception in??? I am in the Garden Terrace?
Just curious since your florist said that the high CP would fit better in your room

Who did you go to? Burtons? They told me that also and I would have gotten high ones if they werent so much $ so go w/ what you want. I didnt like the ones they showed me w/ the candles and they were low.

Do what you want.

Re: Centerpiece Question

James Crest has some strange ideas.

He told me some wacko things too--I told him I want to alternate my flowers between the high and low (mind you they would be the same exact flowers just not on the pedastal), and he told me the guests with the low flowers would think that they got the table with the 'cheap' centerpieces. I told him I didn't care with the guests thought

Anyway, he quoted my $10,000 for all of my flowers! Needless to say, I did not go with them!

I am going to see FLowers by Brian tomorrow and others next week.
It will go better
But glad to hear it wasn't just me.

I think you're better off with a florist that does weddings and such and sometimes the lesser known florists do work that will blow you away! Good Luck in your search!

Definitely do what you want. In general, I think high centerpieces look good in a room with high ceilings and low centerpieces with low ceilings.

Re: Centerpiece Question

oct.2004bride--my reception is in the winter garden pavillion. it has very high ceilings so i think the high centerpieces look really good in there. i saw it set up once with high centerpieces. in the garden terrace i think you could go with either

Re: Centerpiece Question

Hi all
I just got back from Flowers by Brian and it was such a great expeince. Especially comparing it to my previous one. The gave me soooo many different options and styles i could go with, unlike the 'let's do it only this way' attitude from James Crest. Cindy knew the room and said to go with the high CP since it is such a large room, that small CP would just get swallowed up. What was even better was the price. I expected to pay a chunk of money for my florist but her quote was better than the low CP that i had. So it was a pleasant surpise that i am getting so much more for the money .
I am still going to a few others but i have to say Flowers by Brian were FAB!!!
