Centerpiece question
I was wondering if any of you have ever been to a wedding where half the centerpieces were candles and the other half were flowers. I don't have a big budget for flowers, so originally I was going to do all candles, but I need to do at least half in flowers because I'm having sparklers in them, and the flowers will hide the sparkler mechanism. I don't want my wedding to look mish-moshed, but I also don't want to spend a lot on the centerpieces. Just curious if you have seen this done before and did it look ok?

where is your wedding?
I'm getting married July 4 2003, and we aren't allowed to have sparklers indoors, b/c of their fire insurance policy. I'm pretty bummed about that. But we'll be able to watch fireworks during the reception, which will be cool. FH and I are hoping to get some pictures with the fireworks in that background.

where is your wedding?
I'm getting married at the Miller Place Inn. The sparklers that we are getting are the kind that you use on the fourth of July. They are called FlowerGlitzz. They are set off by a remote from a technician that they send to do it. They burn for about 45 seconds. We are going to use them as we walk in or during our first dance- I haven't decided yet. But they are guaranteed not to burn anything. They put them on every other table. That's why we need the flowers, to disguise the part that goes in the centerpiece. I don't know how they do it, but they look pretty cool.

I've seen this done, and it looks beautiful!! If it saves you money, definitely go for it. Also, ask the florist to show you photos of other weddings they did with a similar style...they should have photos to show you.

Centerpiece question
I also have seen this done, and it was during the first dance. It was a surprise to the guests and everyone loved it! I think the combo of the two would be fine, as long as the room flows. Discuss the idea w/ the reception hall and see if they have any ideas or suggestions. Remember they see hundreds of weddings and could give you some great feedback. But in the end it is YOUR wedding, and you should feel comfortable with whatever you choose. Conitnued success to all...

July3Bride....
I have all the contact info at home. I'll be more than happy to post it this evening! I can tell you what they are charging me: it's $200 for the technician to come out and $40 per table sparkler and they require a minimum of 8 tables.

The contact info for the centerpieces is 718-236-1301. They are called Flower Glitzz. I spoke to a guy named Willy. I've never seen these done, so I don't know what they look like. I've only seen pictures. The sparklers burn about 3' high and it lasts for about 45 sec. Hope this helps. Good luck.
