Centerpieces

Centerpieces

Can anyone give me any ideas on unique centerpieces? I want to stray away from a large flower arrangement. I saw on that show 'For Better or for Worse' a nice idea. I just don't think it's very practical. They put a fishbowl with two fish inside and had small flowers etc. aroudn the outside. Afterwards, people took the centerpiece home, but I don't know how well that will happen in real life, and I think that it might be a big production... any thoughts?

Are you planning on doing these yourself? It actually is fairly easy to do. We made them for my sister's Bridal Shower a few months ago and they turned out really great.

You can either get the whole set at Michael's (comes with directions, etc.) but they run about $20, plus fish..or you can make yourself.

Get glass pebbles to fill bottom, fish from fish store and or plants (forgot which ones can be used)...

If I had time to set them up at my reception and the hall was conducive (sp?) to something like this, than I would be doing something like this as well...

I don't the fish thing is a good idea as some might die that night and what if there are some left over?

Really?? My friend was going to give fish favors for her daughters birthday and they died by the day of the party.

I love the way candles look as a centerpiece, staying away from the norm of flowers. You could do a really cute arrangement of all candles. It looks really pretty.

i think i am going to do one of those big hurricanes (glass candleholder around a big candle) and have a wreath of autumn colored flowers for around it.

I think I might do different cakes on each table and then at the end of the night have them cut and sent home with each person...kinda like a groom's cake.

I'm not doing flowers. There is a pic of my centerpiece in my avater. I painted wooden lighthouses in my wedding colors, surrounded it with glass pebbles, sand and shells and added votive candles. There are a ton of great ideas out there- check out Michael's or Joann's wood department. A few weeks ago Joanns had wooden birdhouses for 3 dollars!!! Painted in the wedding colors and surrounded by candles and flower petals, they would have looked great!

I hate to be neg. but, what if the fish die in the middle and people are eating and staring at dead fish?

i think being so close to thanksgiving you could do something like a cornicopia and maybe put fruit in it or flowers or even gourds or mini pumpkins or you could do a mirror with candles and gourds and berries
