We have oval tables too -- what a pain in the a$$ it makes finding a good centerpiece. The problem is that you really need something extra on the table besides the CP because the table is so long.

My suggestion is to think about getting a table runner for the tables (maybe in a blue color if you're doing a beach theme). This will anchor some color on the table so it doesn't look 'empty.' I'm having my mother make them for me since we only have 12 tables. If you don't want a runner, maybe some rose petals and votives down the length of the table in shades of blue and green (I got pink frosted votives for a really good price from Jamali Garden).

Our CP is also large and round, but with a slight oval 'flare' and we're having some smaller arrangements around the base to keep it from being too top heavy.

I saw my 2nd sample CP so I'll post a pic for you once I download it from my camera. Here is the first sample CP (the florist put it on a round table in the pic though). Good luck!!

Re: centerpieces

I have oval tables two & my mom is using hurricanes for each end w/ a candle in them just to add somethign to the table. the other way to not do candles or something else on each end would be to have a long CP but on the table not in air or have the runner which i think is a great idea too. Good luck
