i want to possibly do my own centerpieces like a vase with candles inside or floating candles in a bowl, but how is it arranged to have them brought to the reception site? do i bring them in the week before when i bring in my favors and tell them to set it up day of or someone has to bring them in the day of my wedding?

I am doing a similar thing too. I am doing hurricane vases with pilar candles and rose pedals inside with votives on the table. I THINK I have to bring it all to the hall the week before and the florist will come and put the rose pedals in the hurricane vases and on the tables

what if you're not using flowers though, and how do you know if you are using one when theyre supposed to arrive? we're having an evening wedding, but i know there will be an afternoon wedding before me.

i know that at my place the event coordinator and/or matre d' will take care of it. you might want to call your hall and ask. explain that you aren't going to have a florist so will they do the set up.
