CENTERPIECES!

Ok so i had an adorable idea for my centerpieces for the engagement party....floatin candle and rose petals its looks alot cuter than it sounds but now the hall is tellin me i cant not use rose petals...does anyone have any other cute ideas for a centerpiece?

He told me that they are hard to clean up which is bs...im sooo aggrevated. First i went crazy with findin a candle to last the 4hrs and now he tells me this.

That makes no sense whatsoever.. maybe ask if there are any other flowers you can use in place of rose petals.. and instead of using petals use the whole flower

I told him that i would clean it up myself...and i am usin the fake ones so that i didnt have to worry about the kids rippin them in little pieces..this is the only thing that me and my FH agreed on and he loves the idea

Can you tell the hall that if they can't let you do it there you will find another place that will? Or maybe talk with a manager or someone higher up on the totem pole. I never heard such a rediculous thing in my life!

i would get confetti and put it all over the tables just to piss them off... they never said no to confetti (especially if you dont ask) and now that is a b!tch to clean up!

they have cute confetti that you can even get with your pictures on it!

i work (ed) in a restaurant and i can tell you rose petals arent a pain to clean up. confetti, now that is a pain to clean up. sorry, but i think that is a lame excuse (pain to clean). i can understand about real rose petals as they stain linens and linens can be pricey, but what is their real reason for fake rose petals. can you cancel this place?

WOW I have never heard that before, and I worked in catering for about 5 years. I think you should definitely talk to a higher manager, and tell them you purchased the petals already and that is what you are doing. Let us know the outcome.

They used to have the personalized confetti at www.confoti.com but, they are no longer doing it.

if you don't ask, they can't say no! (that's a good motto for the entire wedding process, by the way!)

I would ask someone higher up about the rose petals. You would probably only be talking about 8 or 9 rose petals per table, right? Show them a picture of what you mean. That's RIDICULOUS. Confetti, I can see. But, ROSE PETALS?!?!?! Tell them that you mentioned this on liweddings, and other brides can't believe that a place wouldn't allow this since the classiest of places allow this at weddings. It really doesn't look good for them since it's just a sign of laziness - especially since you offered to clean it up yourself. And I'm assuming you are paying them to have the party here... aside from something being a hazard, you should be allowed to have whatever you want. There will be more PLATES on the table than rose petals!! SOOO STUPID!!!

I wouldn't change what you're planning... just put your foot down and show them what you mean. Word of wisdom... when you mention 'liweddings' - it goes a long way in this whole wedding process. You can say, 'I would like to go back and let the brides on liweddings know that you were very accomodating with letting me have the harmless centerpiece I wanted and that it all worked out. They were shocked when I told them this was an issue.' See if THAT works!
