Centerpieces

Centerpieces

I am going to be making my own centerpieces for my backyard BBQ Reception in June. Any ideas on something creative to do - I am not very crafty. So something simple and not to over the top would be VERY helpful.

Re: Centerpieces

Mine were pretty easy to make, below is the pic I worked from.

All you need is a large mirror and one hurricane vase with the candle inside for the center. Then 4 votives for each corner, and petals (I used fake) scattered in and around it.

ETA: Pic of finished product!

Is it going to be formal or informal? You said backyard BBQ so unsure....

If informal, tie into the backyard theme! Simple mason jars, ribbons tied around the neck or middle of the jars, with bright gerber daies in them look awesome. They are also very simple and wouldnt look too 'done up' in a backyard.'

You can also do watering cans with flowers in them (I am going to do this for my memory table. Bought a watering can at AC Moore and am going to buy a potted plant and just plant it inside! After wedding I will make holes in bottom of the watering can to sue it as a planter outside) or big floppy straw hats like women used to wear in the spring and decorate with flowers. I would go with an easier, more relaxed feel for an outdoor wedding but thats JMO.

OH! I once saw in a craft store (forget which one) these adorable small wagons-wooden ones. You could put one on each table and fill with flowers. Planters would also work-you know the ones in shape of frogs and other animals? You can put pants inside and decorate with candles around and after wedding yuo can sue them again.

Found theses suggestions on a site for 'garden weddings-same idea:
---
Watering Can Centerpiece. Fill galvanized watering cans with baby's breath and a few cream or yellow roses. Buy elastic bead bracelets from the dollar store, and use them to decorate some of your gardening equipment, such as gloves and trowels. Arrange the decorated garden equipment around the watering cans.

Feathered Friend Centerpieces. Collect old-fashioned wire bird cages from garage sales and thrift stores, or buy from a craft store. Line the bottom of each cage with floral moss or wheat grass. Decorate with ribbons or flowers. Fill with a (fake) pair of lovebirds

Plant Basket Centerpiece. Buy cast-iron hanging flower baskets from Walmart or other major retailer. Instead of a coconut liner, fill with floral moss. Top with durable fruit (pears, apples) and white violets.

Teapot Centerpiece. Arrange each bouquet of flowers in a copper or soft floral teapot.

Potted Plant Centerpiece. Grow white violets in antiqued, painted terra cotta pots. Hot-glue seashells, pearly buttons or stones around the rim. Insert beaded wire bees and dragonflies into each pot (can double as place frames).

Lollipop Centerpiece. Loosely group four or five old-fashioned spiral lollipops in a mason jar.

Heh. Other people have said that lol. I honestly would love to work for a wedding company BUT only in the 'wings.' Like Id love to do the research and come up with ideas and find out prices and talk to vendors, etc, but I wouldn't want to handle the actual couples. -grins- Have noooo patience for divas and let's face it, all of us brides have thrown at least ONE diva moment during our planning!

Re: Centerpieces

Is your picture the top or bottom? I got the vase on the bottom but the candle keeps tipping over?? Any suggestions on how to get the candle to stay straight?? TIA!!

Re: Centerpieces

The candle is in the vase? I would just use a little bit of hot glue to adhere it to the inside. Not like you will see it anyway because it is on the bottom and beneath the rose petals.
