Centerpieces at the end of the reception?

What are you all doing with the centerpieces? I've been trying to decide the best way to ask guests to take them home without having to run around putting tags under the chairs like a church supper!

Centerpieces at the end of the reception?

I figured I'd let each table work it out on their own. I've never seen a fight break out over a centerpiece! : )

Centerpieces at the end of the reception?

I've seen at some weddings, they put a penny under one of the coffee cups. Whoever has the penny under their cup takes home the centerpiece.

Centerpieces at the end of the reception?

We had the DJ announce 'it's time to give away the centerpieces' and we asked him to say that whoever's wedding anniversary was closest to our wedding date won.

Centerpieces at the end of the reception?

I`ve been to a wedding where they did a 'hot potato' game. Instead of a potato they used a spoon but whoever had the spoon in their hand when the DJ stopped the music won the centerpiece.

Centerpieces at the end of the reception?

Ours are the really big kind that are hoisted onto tall stands -- a little difficult to carry out and definitely difficult to find an appropriate place in the house or apartment for it! We'll probably give a couple away to special people in their entirety. Then we're actually going to have the staff at the reception take them apart at the end and wrap the flowers into smaller bouquets with tissue paper that our florist will supply. This way everyone can go home with a little something.

Centerpieces at the end of the reception?

Our centerpieces are also the raised kind, but the stands are rented, and the arrangements lift straight up off the top of the stands. We will discuss with our DJ on which type of game to have the guests play for the centerpeices. If we don`t do it this way, there could be hard feelings. I know my mom and her friends always scope out the chairs and everything else to figure out just which chair to sit in at a table with the centerpieces in mind. They all always want the flowers!! Having some type of game will just avoid any confusion. And if the winner doesn`t want the centerpiece, for whatever reason, they could always give it to someone else.

Centerpieces at the end of the reception? Gina S?

This sounds like a great idea. How are you going to handle the timeing? Will the staff remove the certerpieces during desert? Do you have a viennese hour in another room?

We are having a 'jazz hour' in another room after the reception so the staff should have plenty of time to get everything together. I really liked the idea. My mom or my florist thought of it -- can't remember which!

Gina S--what a good idea

I really liked your idea--don't know if it will work for me, b/c I am not sure whether we are going to have an after party.

Donating...

Hello All! We're donating our centerpieces to the hospital we were both born in... We think that it will cheer up the Geriatric and the Children's ward a little!! Great ideas from everyone! Ayanna

Where are you having your reception? Any chance it is at The Carltun? We are having our reception there and also will be having a Jazz hour.

Gina S--what a good idea

I went to a wedding last year that did this - I noticed the waiters taking the centerpieces down during desert and thought it was strange - but what a lovely surprise to get a small bundle of flowers on our way out - A really nice treat and favor!
