Flowers or candles??? I thought I was dead set on having flower centerpieces, but now am seriously considering candles. They are less expensive. Here are my thoughts. First let me tell you about my reception hall...it's small. If I was going to have flowers, they would be low centerpieces w/ either a pillar in the middle or 2 long candlesticks. One of my favorite BM's suggested the idea of a floating candle centerpiece surrounded by rose pettals. This would also allow me to have flowers I really want for my bouquet which I was taming down because of $$$. My second question is, does anyone have pictures of the types of centerpieces I am talking about? I have seen like a zillion gorgeous tall centerpieces, but they would close up my reception hall way too much. If you have pictures, please post. Thanks for your help!

i also like this one very much
That one posted by Neenie is what we are doing..It's costing us less then $300 for tweleve tables plus our own sweetheart table , but we are having different ( taller) candles on ours....We bought the votive holders with candles on E-bay...was about $70 for 144 of them ( we are doing 8-10) a table...the rose petals we can get on e-bay for about $75 for 3000 or in the store at about $150 for the same amount...I like that they are low and I love the look of candles!

I think flowers and candles are the best of both worlds

For flowers we were quoted for about $55-$65 per table if we use inexpensive flowers...we are on a tight budget, but I am unsure of the candles. FH just says what ever is cheaper (no help). In late August, the sun will be down at about 7-7:30pm, which is when the reception starts, so I think candles would look nice, but I need to see more centerpieces. I did an online search and did not find what I wanted. Trying to calculate my budget here...Why do they make everything so EXPENSIVE!!!

The beauty of what neenie posted is that you get the look of having spent a lot but don;t have to. Great choice!

It is very nice. BM was telling me about floating candles too. How does this sound? Take one of those round mirrors, place a glass bowl w/ rose pettels and water. Put about 3 or 4 floating candles in it and sprinkle rose pettels around the mirror. How about that? How about surrounding that w/ small candles, or is that too much?

We were at wedding that had those floating candles and it was lovely -- it reflects off of the water and is really pretty.

I just pulled these from the Beautiful CP thread. Is this what you had in mind?

I don't love number two -- I think it is a little busy. I think the flickering lights on the mirror are so striking and pretty a la #1 that is is perfect by itself. Great choice!

I think candles would be great but they shoudl be massive wither in size or number.... small votives get lost in the surrounding very easily
