Centerpieces: please vote and maybe post pictures

Flowers or candles??? I thought I was dead set on having flower centerpieces, but now am seriously considering candles. They are less expensive.
Here are my thoughts. First let me tell you about my reception hall...it's small. If I was going to have flowers, they would be low centerpieces w/ either a pillar in the middle or 2 long candlesticks. One of my favorite BM's suggested the idea of a floating candle centerpiece surrounded by rose pettals. This would also allow me to have flowers I really want for my bouquet which I was taming down because of $$$.
My second question is, does anyone have pictures of the types of centerpieces I am talking about? I have seen like a zillion gorgeous tall centerpieces, but they would close up my reception hall way too much. If you have pictures, please post. Thanks for your help!

I agree.

I also think that the center pieces with the rose petals and candles are very pretty. If it is dark when the reception starts, it will be a beautiful effect.
