Centerpieces..low or high?

Original post by jj04

I was thinking about doing a full low CP with rose petals sprinkled on the tabe and candles..i think it may be more intimate than the big high CP's. Do you think a low CP will look as pretty or will the guest hink i cheaped out on flowers even though it is more $$ than the high?

Your idea sounds exactly like my centerpiece! I personally love the low ones. I'm not an extravagant person and love how simple and elegant low centerpieces are.

Honestly, beautiful flowers are beautiful flowers, no one is going to think you've 'cheaped out' at all. My sister spent SO much more for Hi CP's and they wer very dramatic walking in, but sitting at the table you couldn't appreciate them at all, so I definite;y prefer the low ones.

i know this isn't a help, but either very low or high and nothing in between because then people can't have conversations without having flowers in their faces!

I think they have differnt effects--tall ones look more dramitc when you walk in the room- they make for better shots of the whole room

low ones add more tothe table itself- & are cozier, especailly with candles.
you can't really see teh tall centerpeice at your own table when you are sitting.

by the way, i love that one above!

ETA: as for the tallones not beign in the way, I'm always the annoying girl withthe camera that takes the stick with the table # on it out of the low centerpcie b/c it gets in the way of my shots.
so, the poles of the tallones might bother me, but they look great in over view shots.

we are going with low CPs with votive candles, very similar to this type of a look , just a little bit of a bigger CP, and perhaps not the glass bowl ..:

I was sure I'd want the HIGH CPs but my room is a little small and I do not want the CP to overwhelm everything!!

I like the low centerpieces better for some reason. But I want to do 2 tall centerpieces for each of the bridal party tables. That way I make them stand out from everyone.

Sorry to have copied your pic!! I met Laurie last night and the minute she showed me that pic (she had told me it was another LIW bride's CP!) I immediately knew I wanted something similar to that!

We are using organges, fuscia, purples and lavendars for our CPs, with the voties and rosepetals, in a very similar style. I love how simple & elegant that looks, you have great taste!!

It's funny because I LOOOOVE the look of low centerpieces but I'm getting HIGH centerpieces But it's because I fell in love with the look of ONE particular flower in a high CP. But that's really the ONLY high CP I like... if I couldn't get that one I would have done a low CP also and I think your idea sounds beautiful!!

My preference is the low centerpieces, the tall ones are a little overwhelming - IMO and I think that people can see them better when they are at table level rather than having to look up to see them - JMO

I am using low c-pieces. My wedding is small and in an old mill so I felt that low with a lot of candle light was the way to go. I don't think that anyone will think when they walk in that I was cheap for getting low c-pieces. And frankly if they do I don't really care. I guess my point is get what you want!!!

i love the low ones..... i love the more intimate appeal of it, and it definately doesnt look like you cheapened out.... before wedding planning i thought they were the same $$ cause i thought the stand didnt cost much.

i'm not a big fan of high cp's but i found one i love and the room is huge so i think small ones will get lost in it..

i love low centerpieces...we are getting low ones, potted ivy plants with 6 feet of tendrils, and approximately 18 roses spread through out it. it is going to look like it is growing out of the table. i can't wait to work with my florist on it....

FeliciaDA - No need to apologize! I don't mind at all that you posted it. (I just got all excited when I saw it!)

Your centerpiece sounds like it's going to be gorgeous! I'd love to see a picture when Laurie makes up your sample centerpiece!
