Okay- my father passed away when I was 10 and my Mom has been dating someone ever since then, I call him my Step Dad, but they aren't married. I want him to walk me down the aisle but there is also a special place there for my Mom as well. Is it okay to have BOTH parents walk you donw? We are getting married on site and not in a Church?

You can DEFINITELY have both of them walk you down! I've seen parents on either side of a bride walk her down many times before, and I think it's really lovely! There's nothing wrong with having people you care about 'give you away' whether they're your birth parents or not.

absolutely!!! i am having my mom and dad walk me down the aisle... my parents have been divorced since i was 4 and father had very little to do with my upbringing... i owe it to her to have her give me away.. my dad is just really there for tradition's sake!!!!

You could even just have your mom walk you down if you want. Don't feel obligated to have a man walk you down if you feel like it would be more meaningful for your mom to!

Re: Ceremony
I think a lot of brides do this now. Most of my friends have done this over the last few years. Go for it.

You don't have to have one at all. No one is going to notice it not being there if you decide not to. It's totally up to you.
The best thing about YOUR wedding is the YOUR part. Make it a day of love and happiness shared between you, your FH, and your friends and families. Don't stress one little bit about what is 'expected' or 'needed' at your wedding. The only thing you need is to enjoy YOUR day!!!
