ceremony and entrance dilemma, what are you doing?

Original post by Espo22

Ok, i didnt even think about this until the other day when FH mentioned something. Ok problem is i dont know who my mom is going to walk down the aisle with since my dad is walking me. Ive seen the brother or cousin walking the mother down but i dont have a brother or close male cousin. FH said he'll have one of his GM walk her down since he has 11 guys and i have 9 girls but i dont know about that. My dad said maybe my uncle, his brother.

Then my parents were asking me about the entrances at the reception. He asked if my grandmother makes and entrance and i said yes. Heres the problem, at our wedding we will only have 1 grandmother each there. My dad said the 2 grandmothers can walk in together but i am really not sure if fh's grandmother will be able to, she is 93 and looks great and everything but does have trouble walking so not sure if she'll be up to doing that. My dad said my grandmother to walk alone but i dont think thats a good idea at all, she doesnt even speak english and will probably get confused. I said maybe she can walk in with my parents and all 3 can be announced. Or should I have my uncle walk in with her?

anybody else having this type of problem? and what are others doing?

I am having a Maid and a Matron of honor. They will both be walking down the aisle alone. I am going to have my brother walk my mom up the aisle and he will walk back down with my matron of honor and my maid of honor will walk down with the best man. My other brother is walking my step-mom down the aisle and coming back around to walk up the aisle with a bridesmaid.

Probably doesn't help, but that's what I am doing. If you have extra groomsmen I think it's a fine idea for one of the extras to walk her down the aisle.

I am having both of my parents walk me down the aisle. Two of FH's cousins are going to be ushers walking his Grandmother (the only living grandparent) down the aisle and escorting her into the reception.

with fh's grandmother it will be easy if she wants to walk down bc fh will have about 60-70 family members on his dads side lol so lots of options. His grandmother has 7 kids, and close to 30 grandkids so lots of choices...luckily my grandmother has my uncle

You could have your uncle walk your mom..it might be nicer unless she knows one of the GM better.

As for the grandmas walking in, I dont think I'm having either of them be announce into the reception. (we only have one grandma each also)I think they will want to plop themselves down and stay put- haha

You can have them walk in with whoever walks them in the ceremony...or your mom and dad.

i dont think there are any rules so you can do whatever is most comfortable for everyone.

You already have some great options already for walking your mom in the ceremony. For the bridal party entrance-- I'm thinking that I may have my grandmother announced and the dj can point to her in her seat and she can wave and stand at the table, so she doesn't have to walk too much-- so that's an option for your 93 yr old (god bless her!)

yes, for his 93 year old grandmother we'll definitely have the dj point to her at her seat so she doesnt have to walk. We DEFINITELY want to have her recognized since she is fh's only living grandparent and she took care of fh when he was a kid, and he is close to her.

my grandparents arent walking in because my grandmother is in a wheel chair and i dont think it is fair to have one walk and not the other, my mom will prob walk down herself, as my parents are divorced, but not sure on that yet, i have a huge bridal party so i dont want it to be 20 minutes of people walking in, just our parents and then the bridal party then us

I think that my mother will walk in with my BIL...who is also a GM...as far as your grandmother situation, I am sort of in a similar situation in that my grandmother will be the only grandparent who is well enough to attend...I am unsure who will walk in with her to the reception...but you definitely have me thinking now...if I come up with anything I will let you know

my nephews, 12 and 11, are going to walk my mom down the aisle. I needed something for them to do; i told my mom and she loved the idea and even asked them formally. I'm guessing they may also walk fh's mom, or the best man might, since his dad passed away.

we're not doing entrances, and my sisters did but i don't think they had grandparents so i'm no help there, sorry

I didnt think about the not being fair part, we will have the dj specially announce the other grandmother at her chair.

do you have a close male family member to walk in with your grandmother or an extra GM

Re: ceremony and entrance dilemma, what are you doing?

HI Denise.... My situation is a little bit different but sort of similar. My dad is deceased. My mom is walking me down the aisle. And I only have one grandmother left- grandfather is deceased. And my brother is in the bridal party.

We are having my brother (who is in the bridal party) walk my Nana down the aisle. Then he's coming back up on the side to walk down with one of my BM's. My stepfather and mom are walking down together and then my mom is coming back up the side to walk me down. Sounds confusing but my Nana didn't want to walk alone and I didnt want my stepdad to walk alone.

I was thinking maybe one of my male cousins...who is not in the BP though...how would that work if I had a GM walk her in...I am trying to picture it in my head...in the RH...my grandmother would walk in before the BP right? I dont kniw it just all happens more quickly than in the church...as soon as a GM walked her out, he owuld have to run out so he could walk out with his partner, a BM...am I picturing this right or is there an easier way...lol

well we have more GM than BM's so having a gm walk my mom would be fine. You can have a cousin walk your mom in, not like people are going to say oh no he shouldnt be doing that so i think that would be more than fine. Yeah grandparents would walk in first
