Hi! Ok here is my dilemma-I am having my ceremony at Coe Hall-which has a 125 person maximum (not including vendors) My guest list is at about 160/175-So I was planning on only inviting our close family and friends to the ceremony (which usually those are the only ones who show up anyway-especiially on an early Sun morning) and then inviting the full 160-175 to the reception. Now I see that on the invite you 'traditionally' name the ceremony location and then include a reception card. What am I going to do about the people who aren't going to fit in Coe Hall(actually the room can hold a lot more than 125 but its a fire code)? Has anyone had their ceremony there-do they count heads at the door? Or any suggestions for the invitations? Thanks

ok... let's start at the beginning.
have you already sent out invites?
if no, remember that not everyone will be able to attend your wedding. you will get 'no' rsvps. so, that lowers your number.

Re: ceremony and invitation help needed
We were considering getting married at a church and having only family there (things changed), but I was going to send the invites, to those not attending the ceremony, to read: Please join us for a reception following a family ceremony. Or something similar.

No I haven't sent them out yet-I am just beginning to look at invites-I realize people will say no-but I am not sure I want to risk that more than 125 people say yes and then either people are refused entry to ceremony or have no chair at ceremony. Thank you for your replies-

I will also be having close family and friends at my ceremony. For those invited to the ceremony will have another note enclosed with their invitation stating the ceremony. As for the other guest, it will state, cocktail to begin this time and reception to follow. It's only limited space..

Re: ceremony and invitation help needed
I would just take the chance and send the same invite to everyone. Not everyone will respond as a yes and not everyone will go to the ceremony. What if they all go??? They'll stand for the duration of the ceremony. Its not like they'll be there for hours.
I don't think anyone would be counting heads.....
The only reason I suggest this is you decrease the chance of offending someone by excluding them from the ceremony.......people are weird...they get offended over anything.....
