ceremony at caumsett park?

Hey everyone! So we've finally decided to have our reception at the George Weir barn at the Lloyd Harbor Historical Society. We've been going there a lot because Caumsett park is absolutely breathtaking and we really love it there. After seeing it a million times, we were both thinking about how amazing it would be to get married in the park either under a tree or behind the Marshall Field mansion (it's a breathtaking view!) Does anyone know if this would be possible? We're willing to pay for this view it comes down to that.

I would think you would have to contact the LI historical society or find out through the town if you need some type of permit.

We went and asked at the park and they said we can get a permit for picture taking in the park but not a ceremony :( I don't understand I've seen beautiful weddings in nature preserves/parks I don't understnd why I can't pay extra for it... I'm willing to pay too lol

That is one of the parks my fh and I have had many first dates and we love going there. We were told the same thing as Whimseywed78 we could get a permit and take picture thought there was a fee for that plus some restrictions and no ceremony) Trust me we were willing to as well we love that park so much.

So I know it's been a while but for anyone out there, I'm the kind of person who doesn't take no for an answer. When theres a will there is definitely a way. I continued to investigate and push and push for this and finally I got answers. I spoke with people in the town and they said that I absolutely can get married in George Weir as long as I take a permit. The park can't really deny me as it is a state owned property. I think that the people in the park say no because they probably haven't ever done it before because most people aren't willing to go through all the trouble. We are definitely going to try! I mean they've filmed movies inside the park, they can host a wedding!
