So I am getting married next January but we will not be getting married at the venue. Neither of us are very religious, or affiliated with a church so that option is out as well. Does anyone have any ideas of a neutral place where we can actually get married? We loved the aboretum but it will be closed in the winter. There is really no place particular that will be meaningful to us either.
PLEASE HELP!!! Thank you in advance for all ideas

Re: Ceremony help. DESPERATE
RU in Suffolk or Nassau? Other than a gazebo (there's a beautiful one across from Argyle Lake in Babylon Village) I'm not sure where to recommend. Maybe the other brides have a good (better) recommendation....it's very cold there right now!!
Maybe get married at your RH? Don't mean to pry but is there a reason you don't want to get married there? DH and I are not very religious so we got married at our RH with a non-demoninational officiant.

Look into the Chapel at CW Post, they are a non-denominational chapel and it is very nice.

Re: Ceremony help. DESPERATE
I think a botanical garden or aboretum would be nice... check out this website for information on LI ones (listing times when they are open)...
Another idea would be maybe to rent space from a restaurant for an hour or so nearby... I don't know if that can be done but just throwing an idea out there...

Re: Ceremony help. DESPERATE
I looked at the botanical garden and emailed them to see if it was even a possibility. Thanks for the idea. As for the RH, it was not prying, there were just some things about it that neither of us could get past. Dont really want to get into details because it may not seem relevant to others, but it is to us. Im freaking out though, we pretty much have everything else set except, ya know, the most important part of the day!!! Any other suggestions? Thanks again

I also went through the same thing. I'm not sure where your reception hall is located, but Le Parker Meridien Hotel has a gorgeous room for ceremonies. This is where I'm having my ceremony. It's gorgeous!
This hotel is in Manhattan. If it's too far for you, check out other hotels near your RH.

I would love to help but where is your RH? That would be the best way to help.

Re: Ceremony help. DESPERATE
Our RH is in St James, North shore of Suffolk but we are on the south shore border or suffolk nassau. In all honesty, as long as its within a 30 drive, Im willing to do it. There will be a few hours between ceremony and CH.... or thats what we are hoping for
That room is BEAUTIFUL... too bad manhatten is too far. Im hopeful, but sad because I would love it there

Re: Ceremony help. DESPERATE
Not sure if you'd be open to it, but I believe that they are now allowing for ceremonies at the nondenominational chapel in the Wang Center at SUNY Stony Brook .
I've heard of people getting married at Dowling College in Oakdale. I went there for grad. school and I always thought that their conservatory and Fortunoff hall are very pretty.
ETA: Dowling is actually very near the Bayard Cutting Arboretum, and Fortunoff hall is similar to the main building at the arboretum.

Re: Ceremony help. DESPERATE
Due to scheduling conflicts we won't be getting married at my church.. I don't like the 4 hour gap in between the ceremony and reception, so we booked the Chapel at CW Post. It's beautiful. We are only paying 250 because FH is alumni but I don't think it would be too much more for non-alumni to rent it. You get it for 3 hours... Def. look into it.

I don't know how many guest you will be having at your ceremony but in Sayville there is a park called the Islip grange where they have an original church from downtown sayville, its not affiliated with a church or religion, you simply rent the church space. Its small holds a maximum of 65 guest I think. I went to look at its really cute, it was just too small for the amount of people I was having. Here is the link, its the church located all the way at the bottom of the page. BTW its cheap to rent especially if you are an islip town resident.

I loved the conservatory at dowling but when i contacted them, they said they only rent out the ballroom. Have not heard anything back from Planting fields aboretum either.
