Has anyone been to a wedding (or gotten married themselves) indoors at the NRC? We've already booked with them, but I'm not exactly thrilled about the prospect of getting married inside because the room is less than spectacular.
We're getting married in Aug so it could potentially be very hot and uncomfortable if we got married outside, plus the possibility of bad weather, but the dealbreaker was that we want a chuppah and it would essentially cost $1000 more to get married outside because our florist would have to build a chuppah rather than us use the one already downstairs in the NRC room.
Does anyone have pictures of an indoors NRC ceremony? I'm hoping it will look ok once it's decorated but it just seems like an ugly basement room to me... :(

I FH and I looked there first, and I didn't like the idea if it's nasty out, that the downstairs reminded me of my basement. That was a major let down, but Im sure they make it beautiful down there. Its a beautiful place.

I am getting married there next month, hoping for outdoors, but inside is not bad. Add flowers for color, candles for a romantic look. It will look fine. So many places turn the reception room into a temporary chapel for the ceremony, so some kind of divider has to be used. At least NRC has a dedicated room for the ceremony.
There is a gazebo outside where the ceremonies take place. That could be used as a chuppah, instead of your florist constructing another structure. Just decorate with some flowers and fabric if you wish.

As a fellow NRC Bride I can truly say that I know EXACTLY what you mean about their ceremony room
Our wedding is in November, so our fear is that it will be too cold to have the ceremony outside. But if it turns out to be a decent temperature outside, that's where it will be!!!!
If we go outside for the ceremony, we will use the gazebo as our 'Chuppah' -- our florist will just add more decorations to that instead of the structure they use inside.

We are actually spending more money to have the ceremony inside than we would if it was outside! I absolutely HATED the white wicker screens they have to block you as you walk around the chairs before you come down the aisle, so we are renting nicer ones from our florist (approx. $700). And I think I might be covering their indoor chairs, not even sure how much extra that's going to cost.
