Re: Ceremony Location Dilemma

hi , can you tell me more about you ceremony location? My fiance' and i are both Catholic but not very religious. I was never confirmed but I was baptized and made my communion. I want to have more input in our ceremony than I am hearing they allow so we are looking at alternatives. FH parents aren't too happy about it but nothing is set in stone. I heard about C.W. Post nondenominational church but his mom flipped. Please let me know about your place. Thanks

We're getting married at the RH.

FH is Christian and I was raised Catholic. I always saw myself getting married in the Catholic church, but he wanted to get married at his church.

Long story short, if it wasn't the Catholic church, I didn't want it so we are getting married at the RH with his pastor.

Church for us. It was never even a question. Although FH and I aren't very religious, we both always knew we'd be getting married in a church. Besides, both of our parents would murder us before we got married outside of a church.

FFIL nearly had a heart attack that we weren't doing a mass.... having it at the RH was not an option

RH for us. We aren't religious at all, I have strong issues with the RC Church, so I wouldn't have felt comfortable with it. My mother was sad, but she got over it, seeing how strongly I felt about it.

Thanks girls! I guess I am just going to need to sit down with FH and get this figured out soon....BTW...I'm surprised how expensive a RH ceremony is (with officiant and ceremony fee!)

What makes you happy? What do you invision for ur wedding day? Look its you and FH's wedding, you have to do what makes you happy. It was my dream to be married on the beach. My parents (mostly daddy) got over it when I explained to them that was how I saw my wedding day...

I definitely agree with the other girls and think you should go with what you always envisioned for your wedding ceremony. Both RH and I always envisioned getting married outside, and since our church (we're Christian, not Catholic) is so far from the RH, it was a no-brainer to get married at the RH.

OMG I know exactly how you are feeling. I was sick over this for awhile. Originally, we booked our RH with the ceremony outside. My parents were REALLY disappointed and my grandma just couldn't grasp the whole thing lol. We looked into finding an officiant with little to no luck. After much conversation with my FH, we decided to speak with the deacon at my parents church. To our surprise, we felt so comfortable there. It was nice knowing that someone that knew my family will be conducting our ceremony. Overall, the comfort in knowing that we are in great hands for the day out weighed my love for an outdoor wedding.

Things will fall in place for you. It can be difficult trying to please everyone. Try to find a happy medium. If you both have a serious issue with the church thing, it may be necessary to put aside your families needs and focus on the two of you. If not, a compromise may be in order.

Re: Ceremony Location Dilemma

I am getting married at the RH. I don't want all of my OOT guests to have to travel from the hotel to the church then the RH. FH is from Ohio so all of his family is from out of town. I also want to be able to enjoy the party and all without travel and getting cramped up in the limo. I just want to party! So I chose the RH.
