I was in the same situation, we chose the church. FH is not very relgious and I just explained to him how important it was to me and my family to get married in the church.

I would do whatever you feel is right.

I wanted to do it at the RH for convenience, but FH is very religious and it means a lot to him to get married in Church, so that's what we're doing.

Church for us. It was never even a question. Although FH and I aren't very religious, we both always knew we'd be getting married in a church. Besides, both of our parents would murder us before we got married outside of a church.

FH and I arent religious and the church has so many rules! I feel like something is missing if I do it at the RH, because Ive always pictured it being at the church. But Im not a church-goer...

Hard to explain

i was in the same situation. my parents & i wanted the church & FH wanted the botanical gardens. i just explained to him that the church really means a lot to me & i have always dreamed about it. & to compromise we will be taking pictures at the botanical gardens

There was no question for us, we're getting married in church. We're not super religious but both went to Catholic school and would feel really weird not getting married in church. It also wouldn't feel as 'special' to do it at a reception hall IMHO.

RH

I was not raised in any religion really...my parents are protestant but i was never baptised or brought to church etc. fh was raised catholic but is not religious at all.

i told him all along that if he wanted to get married in a church I would be more than happy to do so, but he didnt want to at all so we went with the RH so we can get married outside.

Go with whatever you feel is right. I was in the same situation and basically it came down to what would be easiest for us... FH and I are not religious and with an afternoon wedding there was no way I was going to be running all over the place trying to make it from the church to the RH within 30 minutes and then not be able to go to my CH so I can take pictures. Now, logistically, everything will flow much more smoothly and the ceremony will be something that is meaningful for me and FH rather than for just our parents.

Is the church important to you or just your parents? Would YOU rather do it at the RH?

The RH would allow me to have the ceremony I want...the Church is just where I always expected on the ceremony being...until I found out what I can and cannot do and the prep that goes into a church ceremony (precana, etc)...RH would be easier.

You have to do what is going to make you and FH happy. Having the ceremony at the RH is way easier. If you are not religious and neither is FH and the RH gives you exactly what you want, I say go for the RH. The wedding is about you as a couple and what will make you happy.

I could have gone either way but FH wanted to do a church. Now I'm happy we are having it at the church because it kind of makes the day a little longer and it's ONE day once in your life so I wanted it to feel as long as possible!

Re: Ceremony Location Dilemma

We are getting married at the Church (well not at Churc but its more like a chapel for interfaith marriages....but anywayyyy)....

the rh wouldve been an easy and likely choice for us because we are having an interfaith ceremony. We chose to not have it at the RH because we both wanted a more traditional feel in a house of worship....I always wanted to walk down in between pews and be up at the alter type of thing. And another huge thing for me was that I dont want to see my FH before I walk down the aisle and if we got married at the RH, we would have to take pictures before or we would have to skip CH. I wanted to attend CH absolutely and also didnt want to compromise on not seeing him before.

I did just attend my first ceremony at the RH and it was really nice. For me personally, as a guest I wasnt as emotional as when its in a church but for the bride and groom, they were still very very emotional (so I definately think they would say that nothing was taken away from it cuz it was at the RH)

I wanted to do something else like a park or something but my oh so religious Fh (yeah right) wants a church. My grandpa is a deacon so all in all I lost but it's ok..I hope that I become more religious for it.

FH's family is very religious but FH isn't and I'm not religious at all and I would of had to recieve communion and confirmation to be married at his families church which I didn't want to have to do. So we are having it at the RH which works the best for us.
