Ceremony Music Question

Ceremony Music Question

We are just starting to consider ceremony music (not that we've booked an officiant yet or anything), and I'm wondering about general price range, questions to ask, other tips, etc.

We have inquired at one place and were very surprised to be quoted $1000 for a quartet for one hour and $850 for a trio. Is this in line with what most people charge? I was expecting more like $150 per piece.

Thanks in advance for any info that might help!

Re: Ceremony Music Question

I booked my ceremony music through my DJ company. I think it's costing somewhere between $650-850, I can't remember the exact price, for piano and violin for 1 hour.

another DJ I went to was going to be a little more than that for a 3 piece. So what you've been quoted is in the price range, from what I've seen anyway.

Thanks...Maybe these things are just typically more expensive than I realized. As always!

Those prices sounds right. We booked a string trio and it was around the range mentioned above (actually, on the high end of the range). If you want to cut the price, why not contact your nearest college or conservatory to get upperclass undergrads or grad students studying music to perform? Schools usually keep a gig book for students.

I was surprised too when I started looking but I think it will be a nice touch. I was quoted 875-900 for a trio (2 hrs) and 1100 for a Quartet. (Vintage String)...I went to hear them perform and we really like them so we might just spend the extra money :)

If want info on what groups FM me.

Re: Ceremony Music Question

We're using M.A.S (vendor here on LIW). Marie is great. We're getting a trio for $450 for the hour long ceremony. That's about the cheapest you're going to find unless you hire students from a conservatory or something like that (I did my research on this!).
