Ceremony outside??

Ceremony outside??

Please help. We are getting married at our reception site and are looking to have someone marry us. Is there anyone in the Catholic Church, such as a deacon or minister, who would marry us outside of the Church?

Thanks for your help!

I read on the Diocese of Rockville Centre website that no catholic priest can marry you outside, nor in a reception hall. There are dispensations given, however, but it seems more often for halls. Outside is apparently a big no no, which is odd. The website for the diocese explains it all under canons, or marriage canons, I think you can search it. It's educational, and it's good knowing what you're up against, and what the possible exceptions are . . .

Because, as we all know, there is always an exception to the rule.

Father Bob Allmen is doing our ceremony. He is a reformed Catholic priest (for good reasons that he explained to us)-his # is 631-728-2633. We are getting a legal cert. and sacramental, though this is probably frowned upon by church. He said we will have no problems baptizing kids in the catholic church (if this is your concern) Hope this helps!
