CH Music- I have decided.......

CH Music- I have decided.......

NOT to do this!

My DOC just gave me her insight on this and said it is a 'total waste of money.'

She said that the music gets lost : with people greeting each, talking and eating. In her expert opinion she said it WILL NOT be missed!!.

So money saved right there.

So u girls think twice about it.

good for you....

I don't think it's a waste of money though....I was at a wedding recently where it was very noticeable that there was no music during CH.

I agree with this...

FH and I are discussing this....

I think you wouldn't notice music not being played at a cocktail hour in all the hustle and bustle and people mingling, etc.

Can the hall play music during the CH?

Also, and either way I don't think music is even necessary during the CH

I think it is noticeable when there is no music at the CH. But if you are looking to cut, that could be a way.

Ask your DJ about pre-recorded music for the CH. He may even be willing to include it in your package.

IMHO, its very noticable when there's no music at the CH. You don't have to go over the top, like a strolling band, but pre-recorded music is definitely good enough.

I am not getting charged for my CH music so I'm going to have it still. But I can see what your DOC was talking about.

I can see what your DOC is talking about, but maybe the hall can provide music? Maybe even create a CD they can play in the background? Will you be inside or outside? My hall has music for the inside, but if we are outside, there is no music. I am having my DJ play music outside because my hall is right on Jericho Turnpike and you can here the cars passing if there is no music. My DJ threw in CH music. Try to get in included in your package maybe!

Well when we talk about music...are we talking about Live music??? or recorded music? I think live music for the CH is a waste of money. I don't think people will notice a difference if there is a band playing or if its pre-recorded. I think you should ask your RH if maybe you can bring your I-pod or a CD of CH music so it can be played during CH. I think NO music is Def. noticeable. I would try to go the cheapest route. I went to a wedding in Feb. I definately remember there being music during the CH....NO clue as to whether it was a band or DJ.

I think no music is def. noticeable. I also think a live band is a bit overboard. During coctail hour people like to mingle and talk, so having very loud live music can be distracting.

I am sure most halls can have music playing in the background. I have never really noticed music at a cocktail hour. i just want to eat!!! LOL

That's great advice. I was thinking about this recently and it was stressing me. My band offered to do it at an additional charge. If they don't throw it in for free, we won't do it.
Thanks!

I cant ever remember if there was music or not at any cocktail hour that I have ever been to. I don't think anyone will notice. Good Job on Saving $$$$$.

I agree, Im focused on the at CH.. I could care less if a live band, frank sinatra, or Bon Jovi is playing.. Im psyched to see people and to eat all of the little snacky things!!

You made a great choice, don't doubt it for a second!
