do rh's normally set up enough tables/chairs during the CH for the total # of guests? no, right???
like arent the tables usually for 2-4 ppl? how does that work?

I know at most places I have been to there has not been enough seating in the cocktail hour room for all the guests. Thankfullu my RH has such a big ch room that all my guests will be able to sit if they wanted.

That may depend on the RH. I been to many weddings where the CH tables were for 3-4 pp and only a couple of tables and people had no where to sit. My RH has the whole outside and uses tables that fit 10-12 pp at the CH

yeah that just happened at a wedding we recently attended. there was outdoor and indoor space, but not enough chairs/tables for everyone to sit.
i was confused because a lot of chs have stations + endless food so u almost have to sit down to be able to eat what's on your place.

all the weddings i have been to never have enough tables/chairs for all the guests... that is probably how our RH is doing it... i think thats pretty standard unless you request differently. besides, people will mingle and chat with each other... no one will mind not sitting!

You can always ask your hall how many people they seat at their cocktail hour. They will tell you. a lot of people do mingle though. But I know its nice to say that you do have enough seating for everyone.

thanks everyone. i just wanted to know what the norm was before i called my rh and started complaining if they didnt put out enough stuff...im pretty sure they do
i remember i asked what size the tables were and how many ppl they sit, but i didnt think to ask how many they put out til i started noticing details at other weddings

we asked how many people that room seats - we are getting the large CH room for only 175 people so they guaranteed that every guest will be able to sit.........
thats my biggest peeve! i hate going to weddings and then there is nowhere to sit or you have to ask to sit with strangers!
