Changes (long)

Changes (long)

Today is my last day at my job. I start a new job on Wed. I'm happy and nervous all at the same time. I'm nervous about the new position because it's a contracted position, so as a contracted employee I'm guarunteed to be there until Aug. That is how this company works according to my friends that work there. They hire you as a contracted employee and try to keep you that way for 6mths-1yr and then offer you a full-time position with them. However, I start thinking of all the 'what if's'. Like what if I suck at my job, what if they don't like me, what if their bugdgetr gets cut. Did I make the right decision in leaving my current job, though they are having cutbacks and possible layoff's in my dept. by May. Before I took the new job I asked myself all those questions and I felt like the opportunity was too good to pass...but today on my last day I'm having all these mixed feelings again.

Part of me is anxious because of all the changes that I'm undertaking. Planning the wedding, getting married, changing jobs, selling my apt. and eventually moving out to LI. Sometimes it's just overwhelming.

The FH has been supportive and thinks this is actually the best move that I'm making. I guess it's just natural for me to feel like this...it still is no fun. Not to mention that now I won't be able to post during the day and only at night...lol. Sorry for the long post...just needed to vent I guess.

I had the same fears when I started my current job. I think it's normal. You have a sense of security in the job you're leaving because you know what to do, you know the people, you know the environment. New can be scary, but like you said it's a great opportunity!

Are you comfortable with change? Your feelings are understandable, bc they are pretty much filled with things that are temporary...temporary steps, and it seemslike you really feel the need to prove yourself so you dont get the boot!

Feel comfortable with who you are as a worker...they hired you because they see something in you as an asset to their workforce...FH sees the same and is being supportive...Support youself and you will do fine!!! Be you!!

Re: Changes (long)

i am fearful to leave my current 'good pay' job.

Most of you don't know that I have been caring for 3 boys for 3 1/2 years as their nanny.

Their mom died 5 years ago and they need me.

Their father had 4 nannies in 18 months before I came and I am totally scared that he won't be able to replace me and the boys will suffer somehow.

I love them!

I totally know what you are feeling. Whenever I have left a job, I felt sad, even if I hated it! You're leaving a familiar environment for a totally UNFAMILIAR one. And you will not know anyone, which can be scary. But you are making a good move, I am sure, so try not to worry! Have a good last day and a great weekend.

You're a blessing to that family! Being a single parent is very difficult.
