Changing Dress for Reception

Original post by KellymKuehn

I was checking out the Brides Review page and I noticed some people (more than I thought) changed their dress when they went into the reception.

Is anyone planning on doing this/has done this?

I love the idea I just didn't know that people still did that. I would love to hear what people have to say about it!

I won't be doing this...I love my dress and it is the only day of my life I will get to wear it...I want to wear it for as long as possible!!

I feel the same way..but I also like the idea of a 2nd dress. So I'll be wearing a 2nd dress for my after party.

Agreed. I'll definitely get a 2nd dress for my after party. I don't want anything to happen to my dress!!! The day is so short as it is... I can't seeing wearing THE DRESS for any less time than I already will be!!

I want to because my dress is very heavy and all satin and even from the fittings I've realized how much I sweat in it. My ceremony and cocktail hour are outdoors and I'd like to keep it on until it's time to sit down for dinner and then change. I still haven't found a second dress though and if I don't find an amazing one I'll keep it on.

Where did you ladies wearing a second dress for the reception find yours?

I definitely thought about it...

I think FH would shoot me if I did that because my gown is mucho expensivo....

Plus being that my gown is a mermaid I think it will be fine all night-if I had a big ballgown then I would have thought much much more seriously about it.

But oh, the entrance you will make in a 2nd dress!

Same here.

Plus, I get frantic that I'll be missing things. I don't want to spend anytime changing; I just want to dance!

I love my dress and I am still changing into something else. I love both dresses so I don't see what why I shouldn't be able to wear both. I like the whole element of surprise and I want to change into my second dress because although my first dress is FABULOUS...my second dress is FABULOUS x2...It is much more sexy and it shows off a different side of my personality. I understand why people chose not to change dresses but that is the same reason why I want to change mine....because I love them both

I made sure I picked a dress that can take me from the ceremony to the reception. I love my dress way to much to change and I plan on partying in it till the wee hours on the morning.

Me too!! I think I only want an after party so I can buy a really cute white dress. i am thinking something flapper-ish -- with fringe or feathers! (I am crazy!!) I love feathers!

I am doing this for the last hour of the reception, and after party! For our after party we're doing the video game Rock Band 2 set up like karaoke, and we're doing a big entrance/performance to kick off the party. I'm the band drummer so I need to be able to play!! Can't play in my huge a.ss ballgown! Also we are doing a surprise Tango dance, and I will have the short dress for that. Here it is, I got it from Sarah Seven

I Love that idea and looooooooooooovvvvvvvveee the dress

That is SUPER awesome... and that dress is really really cute.

I'm keeping that sucker on as long as possible!!!

I will most likely change into something cute for the afterparty at a hotel.
