I am positive this has been posted before, but I'm too lazy to do a search so I'm posting it again! Are you changing your last name to your FH's? Are you adding it so that your current last name will become your middle name? I always thought I'd just change it and say goodbye to my current last name, but now I'm not sure if I should have both names.

Re: Changing last name?
I added his last name to mine (hyphenated) for all paper work only. At work, I go by my maiden name & socially I go by his.

Re: Changing last name?
I made my last name my middle name and took his last name. The DMV gave me the hardest time and wouldn't let me change my middle initial. I was like HELLO I changed it at social security!!!

Re: Changing last name?
hyphenating the names. I can't bear losing my daddy's name.

Re: Changing last name?
I am absolutely keeping my name - I like my name, it's been who I am for 30 years and my SO wouldn't have it any other way ;)
I am positive you can have 2 middle names...I have seen children with a first, middle, mother's LN, father's LN.

Re: Changing last name?
I am changing to his last name, becasue when I have a daughter I will name her Paige, which is my last name, with a different spelling, and my daughter will also have my middle name.
My FH was a bit offended when I first said I wasn't goignt o take his nameor to hyphernate.
I don't want it to be one of thse things where people are confused by what your last name is, and then your children's last name.

Re: Changing last name?
Changing it. I actually was adopted and my Fiance's last name exactly rhymes with my birth last name so its almost like having my real last name back (if you can follow that).

Re: Changing last name?
I'm either changing it completely to his last name, or I might add it as an additional middle name...

Re: Changing last name?
I tried to get him to take mine, but no luck. Still trying, though....
I'll probably add his last name to the end of mine so I can legally use any combination I want - 2, 3 or 4 names

Re: Changing last name?
I don't have a middle name so, I will be moving my last name to middle, and taking his last name!
look into changing your middle name...it is not as easy as just getting your marriage certificate...
I took DHs last name...it was a bit sad...but easier in the long run

Re: Changing last name?
I had the hardest time with this. First I was just going to add his name to my current name, but then I figure most people will call me by his name. I don't have to decide for a while, so I'm just going to get married and deal with it after. I may not change it at all.
