I am positive this has been posted before, but I'm too lazy to do a search so I'm posting it again! Are you changing your last name to your FH's? Are you adding it so that your current last name will become your middle name? I always thought I'd just change it and say goodbye to my current last name, but now I'm not sure if I should have both names.

Re: Changing last name?
Yep. Changing the name. His last name is Polish and mine is a very nice Italian name (always get compliments on it).
EVERYTHIME my father sees or hears his names he laughs and says - We have such a nice name, can't you get him to change HIS name??????

Re: Changing last name?
Is it true that if you hyphenate you can legally go by either/or? b/c that's what I really want to do...

Re: Changing last name?
BIG BIG decision here. I do like being Jennifer Lopez (J.LO) But since it is a tradition and usual important to the men to take their last name, I will probably be Jennifer Phillips

Re: Changing last name?
I am changing to his even though I don't like the way his last name sounds with my first name. People usually think it's funny when they find out what my married name will be because it sounds silly.

Re: Changing last name?
Still undecided - definetley taking his name but don't know about the whole Middle name my old last name thing - he WANTS me to get it as a middle name! He is like you sould hyphenate it - that would make it 24 letters plus a hyphen =) Just to tick people off

I dont want to change my last name b/c I like mine and have had it all my life. I am not to crazy about his. People cant say it or spell it. But I guess I will be changing it.

Re: Changing last name?
Completely changing mine!! My current last name has absolutely nothing to do with me so it really won't effect me

Re: Changing last name?
I'm not changing mine. I really like my last name - it's Irish, I love Irish names. Plus there aren't too many people with my last name anymore, he's got a whole heck of a lot with his long, hard to say, hard to spell Polish last name. And I want our kids to have my last name as their middle name. Actually, I'd love for them to have my last name, but somehow I don't think that'll go over so well.....

Re: Changing last name?
I have a son from a previous marriage, so I'll be hyphenating the last names.

Re: Changing last name?
I am def. taking his last name. I am considering making my last name my middle name, but I really dont like the way it sounds. The names sound funny together to me.

Re: Changing last name?
I'm hyphenating. I'm using his last name socially and mine professionally. And in all other legal documents, I'll use both.

Re: Changing last name?
Same as cutsabutton. Still trying to convince FH of it though. He would love for me to just completely change to his name.
