Changing my engagement ring

Changing my engagement ring

My ring had the center stone (1.51 cts, great color and clarity) and 2 side stone (.25 ct each and crappy color) The side stones just didnt look right next to the center stone, so I'm having diamond reset just into a plain, tiffany setting.

I feel kinda bad though...should I?

Its your ring.. you hope to wear it for a long time.

Your choices were to reset it or buy new diamonds for the side stones.

I don't think you should feel bad.

I have a plain solitaire on a 6 pong setting.. I think it looks boring to me. Im changing to a different setting soon

My mom reset her engagement diamond after many years and my dad paid for it. It was a birthday gift. He didn't care. It wasn't as if she wanted to upgrade the center diamond.

Go for it!

I don't think you should feel bad at all. Your FH probably spent a lot and you should be happy.

My FH is fine with it, I just kinda feel like it's not the ring that he proposed with and I feel guilty.

As for it looking boring, I kinda LIKE boring I think it'll look nice with my wedding band too (5 stone diamond band)

But hell, who am I kidding...I change my mind constantly and next year I'll probably want something else

I think it would look stunning. You could have the two side stones made into earrings for yourself or maybe if you have a daughter later on.

This is tough.. I joked around one time with my FH about changing my ring.. (even though I had no intenetion of changing it-- it is exactly what I wanted). He said he would be hurt if I did that because he picked it out and it has so much meaning to it. I guess what I am trying to say is it all depends on how he feels about it. If you both are OK with it then go for it.

If you're going to do it, maybe it's best to wait until after you're married for a little bit?? Then it won't be changing the engagement ring while you're engaged. Not sure if that makes sense but I just feel like timing might make a difference.

Personally, I wouldn't change mine for anything in the world, doesn't hurt that FH did an amazing job with the four c's (cut color clarity and carot) but I think its bad luck or something. I don't know if yu are both okay with it, than do it. You have to wear it, so you have to love it.

Hey as long as your FH is totally fine with it and you also want this change...it is your decision to make and don't feel one bit guilty about it.

Plus like one of the other girls said, its not like you are changing the center stone.

Enjoy it! :)

I just changed my wedding band (see NW board) and I was kind of sad at first but glad I did, I love my new ring, I didnt love my old one!

Do it, you will wear it forever!
