So I really was so into doing a fall theme....But i had so many ideas and I just didn't know where to start.....I have now thought of an NYC theme and Since we are getting married 3 days after 9/11..I thought of some ideas and just wondering if I can have some input.....
Favors - Donation toTuesdays Child With that we will place a post card of the WTC or NYC Skyline for each place setting (On the back personally write a thank you and why we are donating to them)
Table Numbers - I wanted to use pictures on NYC then and Now ( I can hopefully buy a book or something)
Place Cards (I have no idea)
Please feed me your ideas and opinions.....It is much needed and appreicated!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Changing my Theme....(Long)
I think that the donation is a good idea... but I would be wary about incorporating too much 9/11 things into the mix... I think that it might be very upsetting to some people, and your wedding should be a joyous occasion! You might bring up some hurtful memories to people, and I don't think this is what you want on your wedding day. But I definitely think that doing the donation is a great idea!

Hey Hal:
Not so much a 9/11 theme...I mean like OLD school with the guys on the bar sleeping or eating lunch...I mean like very very old school pictures and the city now....

Hey Lee, Cute Idea, yea I wouldn't put any pics of the wtc, but like broadway sign pics, and pics of rockafella center (your own meaning for that one!) and Central park.. that's really cute. Instead of doing limos I've seen people ride in the old fashion NY cabs, I thought that was so cool!
The donation is nice, I'm sure you'll think of a million other ideas for that. The cocktail shakers still fit that theme. Very cosmo city like. Or what about a CD of great Broadway hits? hehe

I think those are all great ideas. Maybe for the place cards, you can do tickets like from a broadway show or mini playbills?

I wouldn't even SUGGEST to people you're doing a NYC theme becaues your wedding is three days after September 11th, that puts a very depressing air to the wedding (which you want to be happy!!!!). The NYC theme is cool, but connect it as little as you can to September 11th!

for place cards maybe the tables could be areas like SoHo, Uptown, Downtown, Times Square... etc and people could be placed by streets...like Mr and Mrs Smith are on 42nd st which is in Times Square.... But I do love the theme!

Re: Changing my Theme....(Long)
I think you can creatively combine the themes--make it a fall New York wedding! Or autumn in the city, or however you want to phrase it. I'm thinking fall colors with city imagery.
I like the donation idea, but if I were you I would try to avoid then/now comparisons. It can get people down too easily on a day that's supposed to be about happiness and romance.

Thanks for your input....I was thinking of finding pictures of the City but using but copying them in the SEPIA (Photo color)
