Re: changing name
I just started the process. Once I got our marriage certificate in the mail, I brought it to the DMV to change my name and this week I plan on doing the same thing at the Social Security Office. I called my bank and I have to go to my local branch with a copy of the marriage certificate to change my name with them. HTH.

I did the same. There are forms you can print from the internet for social security and DMV. I also called my credit card companies and told them of the name and address change.

Re: changing name
I started by going to the DMV web site and getting the form from off line to change NAME and CAR TITLE. I filled those out and went to the DMV the following morning.
I also went to the SS web site and downloaded and filled out the NAME change form on their web site.
Make sure you have your marriage certificate, SS card, original car title and license.

I'm in the middle of this process. Do I actually have to go the SS office? It closes at 4pm-what a pain.

I don't think you actually have to go but if you don't I think you have to mail your marriage certificate in and then they mail it back to you. All the info should be on the SS website

Re: changing name
did anyone change their names with new drivers license before wedding? I am afraid my airline ticket and passport are in maiden name and my new license wont support those names! what do you do then? Do I need a whole new passport?

Where is the SS office in Patchogue? I have to start this week. I just found out that I have to change my teaching certificates too and that's supposed to be a big hassel.
