changing names

Re: changing names-cookie11111

My sister thought it would be easy to change her name when she married because she was tired of always spelling our last name. She changed her name to FOX. She still has to spell it!! People always ask her if it is spelled F-O-C-K-S!!

Re: changing names

I am proudly taking my FH's name. I guess that makes me old-fashioned, huh?

It's just something I always knew I would be doing.

I am taking his name. Although it will be weird to go by a new name, my last name can be difficult to pronounce and with my career I am looking foward to taking his last name which is much easier to pronounce.

I am not changing my name either. In fact, my FH considered changing his last name to mine. Does anyone know if that could be done? Even if it's not, hes really supportive of me keeping mine. Another question, when I get return labels with our address on it should I put both full names? What is everyone else doing? Thanks.

Re: changing names

I am changing my name except for my professional name, which I will hyphenate for 2 years until people know me by his last name too. For work I sign my name anywhere form 10-50 times per day, and I just can't get a quick signature with his name. I think I will miss my signature the most.

Re: changing names

My FI was hoping I would but seemed pretty OK when I said I don't want to. I told him that if we ever had kids (not planning on it, but on the off chance) it was fine by me for them to have his name. But now we've been talking about both hyphinating - unfortunatly neither of us have a short last name so it'll be a mouthful. But in a way, it makes sense cause we're becoming a union so why should one or the other of us have to lose something that is so much a part of them. I like that we'd be melding instead of me feeling like I was losing who I am. But if he changes his mind and doesn't want to change his, I'll keep mine too.
