Changing Names...

So the wedding is coming up so soon (3 1/2 months) and I was doing a lot of thinking about how my Dad's parents cant be there and how our wedding day is my Grandpa's 1st birthday in heaven.. and I decided that when they ask me what name I would like to take I am going to add my Grandma's name to my middle name. Her name was Ann. So my new middle name will be MaryAnn. I thought about getting rid of Mary and just being Kristen Ann but then I talked to my mom and she explained to me where she got my middle name from and now I just cant do it.. I would feel terrible. I will always have a piece of my Grandma and Grandpa D. in my life now.. I will be getting married on Grandpa's birthday and using Grandma's name as part of my middle name. It will be another way for me to feel like they are there with me on that day or at least being part of it in some way. Thanks for reading guys. <3

Is anyone else doing anything like this?

Re: Changing Names...

that's a great idea.

I wish I could something like that, but that would involve ever so slightly changing FH's last name and he doesn't want to...he doesn't even want to entertain the idea, and that's what bothers me the most

We're both Greek, and there are certain last names that are very distinctive as coming from specific parts of Greece. My last name ends in '-atos' and that means I come from the island of Cephalonia. FH's mom is from the same island, and his father is from Sparta, but he has almost no connections whatsoever with his Spartan roots. I suggested that he change his last name to end in '-atos' so that way i can keep some of my identity, and he can identify further with his mother's roots, but he doesn't want to hear any of it.
