Changing Photographers? Updated on pg 2

I am getting married later in the year. We took engagement photos with a popular company on this website and I was really unhappy. They all looked the like the same picture, no effect, no different style of me in the background and FH blurred... ya know. And now I am starting to see a lot of wedding pictures, and to me they all look the same. I was really excited about this company when I booked them because they did do these things with their pictures over a year ago and I havent seen anything like that recently. I called TP yesterday and got a quote and its pretty much what we were getting and paying for, we'd just lose out on our deposit with the other company.

So my question to you is, would you cancel your photo/video with only a couple of months to go and go with another company to be happy?

Uh, YES.

Do you think that you could talk to your current photog about why you are unhappy with their work? Or let them know what you are looking for, and not seeing in your e-photos?
IF you dont mind losing your deposit then yes, i would change photogs if that will give you a peice of mind.

Ditto. . .I mean. . . if you don't mind losing your deposit, I would def go with TP if that is the style you were looking for.

Pictures are important, you will regret it if you are very unhappy with the results!

Thats exactly what I was thinking. This is one thing I want to be completely satisfied with. I've like TPs pictures forever, but i didnt know about him when I booked LAST October. I showed FH the wedding pictures of our company and TP and he sees exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not good at any type of confrontation so i'm not comfortable talking with the owner and telling him about the epics and what if still I'm not happy... FH is going to call our company today and say that we may push back the wedding because he lost his job (not true), would we be responsible for the rest of our contract price now. What do you think?

Yup, absolulely. DO IT. Trust me. I know EXACTLY what you mean. I'm going through the exact same thing right now. I'm happy with how my proofs came out, but the more brides pics I see on here, the more I realize that I didnt get the 'artistic' type shots I was going for when I booked my photographer. I dont regret it, but I do wish that I had done some more research before booking.

Thats exaclty what I want. Dont get me wrong. There are some of our Epics that I like, but I wanted some different feels to them, ya know. I was showing FH some of TPs pictures last night, and he was like thats soo cool! I'm sorry you're not completely happy with your pictures

Have you talked to your current photographer about the effects and style of photographs you want ? I would do that first before losing a deposit to see what they say.

Did you read your contract? It should say on there what the requirements to cancell are.. i wouldnt lie.. i would honestly say that you thought the quality of their work was much better last october.. you do not like your e-pics and the reasons are... (list them off). see where you get...

No we havent. I dont like any type of conflict, and am not comfortable addressing people like that. I know its silly though. Another reason is, that Fh is going to say that we are postponing the wedding and we dont know our new date yet.

If you can swing it, do it now while you can. You dont want to get your proofs back and regret not doing it every time you look at them.

Honestly, i would do it. How much will you be losing? If you dont mind losing it, switch. These will be pictures youll be showing your grandkids one day, you want to LOVE them. TP is amazing to work with. I dont think youll regret the change at all. Also if the company you booked with has many photographers maybe the books you saw werent from the photographer you got.

There aren't a lot of photographers. We are using the owner and I think there is only one other person who takes the pictures. Oh and we'd only be losing our deposit with the other company ( I think). I look at my parents' and grandparents' albums all the time! Thats why I want to LOVE mine. Its not like I'll stop looking at them in a year

IMO, I would not lie to the photog about changing the date or anything because if you sound wishy-washy, they may try to snowball you into keeping your contract open, letting them keep the deposit so you can/will rebook with them, etc. If you firmly tell them what you don't like, you will get farther. This is YOUR wedding and it is YOUR money being spent, so you don't have to feel bad about confronting the photog. Just tell them what you feel. They probably handle cancellations all the time, it's part of the job. Tell them you are unhappy and plan on finding a new photog. Good luck

Maybe you're right. Do you think they would let us cancel if we just tell them that we are unhappy and thats why we are cancelling? Would be responsible for the rest of the contract price?

That depends on your contract. What does it say for cancellations? If they have enough time to rebook youll probably just lose the deposit. Read all the fine print.

Re: Changing Photographers?

1. Cancellation means forfeiting the entire deposit and no refunds will be given
9. The liability of the photographer for any breach of contract shall strictly be limited to the amonth of any consideration received by the photographer and or the studio for payment of the contract price.

Thats the only thing it says about the contract and cancellations...
