changing reception hall ????(long)

changing reception hall ????(long)

I booked my reception hall this past May. We have paid over 3000 to them already. I am new to the board and have been doing a search on the place and I would say that at best, I saw 'mixed' reviews. My fiance and I went to the place a few weeks ago during another wedding to speak with the banquet manager and I saw a few things that I did not like. When we booked the place we were told that it was one wedding at a time. Some of the posts that I have seen on this board would indicate that the reception hall does not always abide by this. I asked the banquet manager about this and he said 'well we could have another event right after your cocktail hour.' Right then and there I realized that this place may be a little shady. WHich conveniently would be one of the exact posts that I read about the place. Can you all please help me? I am just getting this feeling that this placec may be wrong. Also, if anyone could suggest a place on the North Shore of Long Island by western suffolk or nassau that really does have one event at a time, please let me know.

I'm sorry. I don't have any advice for you, I can only imagine how stressed out this is making you.

I was married at Sans Souci in Sea Cliff (near Glen Cove). There is definately only one wedding at a time. If I remember right, George Washington Manor in Roslyn also does one wedding at a time.

Good Luck!

I think the Beach Club Estate does only one wedding at a time... if not Crescent Beach Club definitely does. Depends on your budget and # of guests. Do you want to tell us the name of your original site? It may help other brides thinking of having their receptions there!

This is a tough one. If you cancel, you will probably lose the money you put down unless they book another wedding for that day. Make sure you check their policy on this before you cancel.

When I did a search on the place I was married...mixed reviews came up about my place too. But everything was great! Everyone has different experiences and what one person may not like about a place, another may love.

Good luck in you decision!!!

you poor thing..
sorry to hear about your troubles.
I wish you luck with your search.

Like others in here, I think you should look over your contract. You may lose your deposit.

Could you share the name of this place with us?

PS: Welcome to the boards!

Oh yeah !! Butterfly, I forgot about them, DUH!! I am getting married there. Mikesgirl, FM me if you want info on Stuart Thomas Manor. They do one wedding at a time. The inside is beautiful, the outside has no grounds really though. But I am getting married in February, so that didn't matter to me. And they have great prices and packages.

Oh yeah.
im getting married in Stewart Manor Country Club.

1 wedding at a time only REALLY reasonable rates!
gazeebo outside, warm interiors..

My wedding is Oct so you wouldn't bump me.

I've heard good things about George Washington Manor in Roslyn but don't know if it's one at a time.

Re: changing reception hall ????(long)

George washington manor offers two weddings at a time, though the chances of it happening are slim. The room usually used for weddings holds about 100-120 people, so if there was another wedding, it would have to be 75 people or less, and it would be held in the blue room with the fireplace which is on the other side of the restaurant. The chance of two weddings going on at once is slim, but they could always have another party, anniversary etc.. They also leave the restaurant open during weddings, so if you're looking for your wedding to be the only thing going on, this might not be the best choice.

Land's End is beautiful-right on the water in Sayville. Try them. They do excellent work and one wedding at a time
