Does anyone know how long it will take to get a new license with your new name on it? I am flying 3 weeks after I get married and by the time I get back from the HM I will only have 2 weeks to get my new license. Do you think thats enough time? Will they give me a temp one? Only asking because I have to book my flight with a last name... and I don't know which one to put Of course I would love to use my NEW last name... but I don't want to be denied flying!!

Re: Changing your name
You likely won't even have time to change your name by the time you fly. You may not even have your marriage certificate yet - that takes 2-4 weeks to come. You need that to change your name everywhere.
I wouldn't worry about changing it before then.
We're closing on our home about 3-4 weeks after the wedding, so I'm waiting until after then to change my name.

Re: Changing your name
I would book the flights in your maiden name. Even if you're able to get to the DMV to do the name change beforehand, you can still use your old license as ID when boarding. You prob won't have your new one in time anyway. Like Kara said, you have to wait for your marriage certificate to come in the mail first before you can start changing your name.
Sorry, I know it's exciting and you want to use your new name but better safe than sorry, and it'll be less stressful this way too.

Exactly what I was going to say!
They let you keep your old license when you get a new one with your married name

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it, besides you don't want any snags trying to get on the plane for your honey moon!!

Re: Changing your name
Like the above posters have said- you should book your HM with your maiden name- then do all the changing afterwards.

Re: Changing your name
Definitely maiden name- actually we flew pretty recently after our wedding too--I booked in maiden name, well I was able to change my name by then but just brought a copy of the marriage license in case---not a prob--the other way around could have been a problem!

Re: Changing your name
Thanks so much guys! Guess I will just make things easy and keep my tickets in my maiden name for this trip- there will be plenty more with my new last name
