How long does it take to change your name after marriage? My travel agent booked our flight under my new name bc we are going 2 months after our wedding. He said we would have plenty of time for the paperwork. I'm getting nervous bc I'm not sure if I will have enough time to change my name and renew my passport in time.
I think you can do it in two months. I can't say from experience b/c I haven't done it yet. I think that if you still don't have it done by then, you can always bring in your marriage certificate along with your ID.
I got my new SS card within a week and I got my new license within 2 weeks. As for the passport, I haven't done that yet. When I went on my honeymoon, we booked the tickets under my new name but I was still legally under my maiden name. I just carried a copy of my marriage license with me and had to show them that whenever we boarded a plane. I ran into no problems at all doing that.
